Good Lourd-es! Madonna's eldest daughter plays the doting big sister as she holidays on the slopes with siblings in Switzerland

Madonna may be the original material girl, but it seems that her eldest child Lourdes is perhaps more of a maternal girl.

The 17 year-old was spotted on the slopes of Gstaad in Switzerland with younger siblings Mercy James, eight, and David Banda Ritchie, also 8, for a winter sports holiday.

There, despite being joined by their mother, Lourdes clearly enjoyed being a role model for the youngsters as they developed their skills on their skis.

Dressed in an all-black salopettes, the youngster assumed a number of big-sister duties - which included cheering her siblings down the slopes with moral support and words of encouragement.

Displaying her barefaced beauty, the teenager - who is also the daughter of Carlos Leon - is makeup free and has her mother's fair skin and light eyes. There's no doubt she's taking after her famous mother in the looks department.

The younger children, whom Madonna adopted from Malawi, went for brighter looks, with Mercy wearing an all-pink North Face ski pants and jacket with pink helmet and David opting for a matching all-blue ensemble with a blue helmet.

Clearly enjoying themselves, they happily posed for photographs with one another - some of which found themselves on Instagram, thanks to Madonna.

The Ray of Light star was dressed all in black for her day on the slopes, wearing black ski pants, a black parka with multiple zipper pockets and a fur-lined hood with leopard print lining, a black helmet and black ski boots.

And, although her children were brave on the slopes, she was snapped on skis learning a beginners move called the snow plow from an instructor.

The Vogue singer later shared a snap of her oldest daughter on Instagram Sunday, saying: 'Snow Bunny Is DONE!'

Madonna's 13-year-old son Rocco, whose father is the pop star's ex-husband Guy Ritchie, was not photographed with the group.

Before jetting off on holiday, Madonna and Lourdes were seen visiting a Kabbalah Centre in New York.

She seems to have acquired her mother's showbiz streak, taking on the role as the oh-so-tough and sassy Betty Rizzo from the famous 1978 Grease musical earlier in December.

The production took place at LaGuardia Performing Arts school in Manhattan and Lourdes looked quite the part.

The pretty brunette showed off her vocal abilities with her performances of classic tunes, including Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee and There Are Worse Things I Could Do.

Next up, Lourdes is already thinking college, as E! website reports that she visited the University of Michigan with her mother last month.

Madonna used to study there before she moved to New York to become a pop star and has said that she would love her daughter to go there as well.

She told the NFL network in 2012: 'I want my daughter to go there. I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.'

Madonna took Mercy to a Beyonce's The Mrs Carter Show World Tour at the Barclays Centre in New York on December 19 and the youngster got a kiss on the forehead from Queen Bey herself.

The queen of pop paid a rocking tribute to music's new royalty by posting a cute Instagram snap of the moment, adding the message, 'Mercy James gets a big fat one from the Queen. B!

Madonna, 55, obviously enjoyed the spectacular show, posting another Instagram of the 32-year-old pop songstress on stage with the caption 'Mrs. Carter crushes the BK with her bad ass show! Girls run the world! #srtforfreedom.'

Lourdes is very beautiful and looks the spitting image of her mother when she was younger. I also love Lourdes' eyes.

I applaud Madonna for trying to learn to ski at 55. No slopes in Michigan or New York so bravo to her for trying. How many other 55 year old Mother's would be out on the bunny slopes trying to learn with the kids? Not mine, she would have been inside staying warm by the fire. Age is just a number and the best advice to staying young.

David and mercy's lives have been changed forever via destiny. Say what you will about celebs adopting but when a child future was once so bleak and now so optimistic and promising. Madonna has been lucky in this life and i think her karma and cosmic order will be in good shape by way of the few decisions shes made this lifetime. Those kids dont know it but she literally saved their lives.
