Plaits, sequins and plenty of leg! Black Eyed Peas star Fergie wears stunning sequinned gown with thigh length slash during New Year's Eve extravaganza

She shared hosting duties with comparative veterans Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy on Tuesday evening, but Fergie ensured all eyes were on her thanks to a stunning sequinned dress.

Indeed, the Black Eyed Peas star opted to wear the sleeveless design for her role as co-compere of annual TV spectacle Dick Clarke’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve – and it caught the eye as she took her turn at presenting pre-recorded segments of the show from Hollywood.

The glittering ensemble was all the more distinctive thanks to the deep slash that ran from thigh to ankle, revealing a generous portion of Fergie’s right leg as she sashayed through the audience.

Fergie wore two outfits on the night, and they were complimented by two wildly contrasting hair styles – a conventional centre parting and a highly distinctive plait that coiled across her right shoulder.

The latter was accompanied by her first outfit of the night, with the 38-year-old taking to the stage in an oversized tuxedo jacket, beneath which the lapels of a smart monochrome blouse were evident.

Fergie completed her second look of the night with a pair of striking gold coloured skinny trousers and black and silver boots.

With large portions of the show streaming live from New York’s Times Square, the singer took centre stage from the relative warmth of Sunset Gower Studios, where she capably handled capably handled the LA strand of Dick Clarke’ long-running extravaganza, during which Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke took to the stage.

Over in Miami Pharrell William introduced rapper Pitbull as the Florida city’s unofficial mayor, while Seacrest and McCarthy handled the New York strand, where the likes of Miley Cyrus, Icona Pop and pop legends Blondie entertained thousands of revellers.

Being a family affair the show remained on the side of good taste - with controversial singer Miley managing to keep her clothes on and her twerking to a minimum.

However, New ground host McCarthy didn’t get the memo.
When the ball dropped, the star shared her New Year's smooch with boyfriend Donnie Wahlberg.

Engaging in a long prolonged kiss on air, the pair only came up for air long enough to make some thinly veiled sex jokes.

The 41-year-old The View host declared getting to kiss the the 44-year-old entertainer the best part of evening.

It was so horrible but we couldn't stop watching it to see how bad she'd get. It just kept getting worse with her fake enthusiasm. Too bad the bands (if they could be called that) or acts were all D list and made us change the channel.

She's a very weird looking woman. Too hard looking. She has a very odd bone structure in her face, she should wear a softer hairstyle and less harsh makeup. She'd look much nicer if she toned it down. Doesn't help that she's had plastic surgery and probably botox. Why?

I think she looks very nice but did anyone hear her speak? I watched for 5 minutes tops and she talks like an 18 year old rapper...."yo-yo, let's get this place poppin." It was a little weird coming out of a woman of her age...

Personally I say NO man or woman of ANY age should speak like that,,,lol but a lot of ppl do n I am used to it to tell the truth-Fergie looks good tho,,her face yes has um been affected by all the surgery and drug use but shes cool n I love her music,,,lol
