So nice of you to turn-up: Ashlee Simpson rocks ripped 'mom' jeans as she picks up some groceries with a friend

They're not the easiest fashion item to pull off, but Ashlee Simpson, 29, was rocking a pair of 'mom' jeans when she stopped off at CVS chemist on Thursday.

The high-waisted jeans which are particularly baggy around the waist and have a loose fit in general don't always flatter the figure.

But Ashlee looked effortlessly cool in her pair, despite rocking a slightly curvier look of late.

The hipster was pictured picking up a few miscellaneous items from the shop while out with a friend in Sherman Oaks in California.

She looked cool and casual in a black hat and sunglasses which she wore with a black and white striped jumper which fell off one shoulder.

Her long blonde-dyed hair was worn in loose waves which tumbled down past her shoulders and was covered up in part by her stylish hat.

Her on-trend jeans were ripped at the knee and had turn-ups at the hem. She also wore simple black ballet pumps to polish off her look.

The Pieces Of Me singer is currently dating 25-year-old musician and actor, Evan Ross, who is the son of musical legend Diana Ross.

The pair reportedly began dating in June, making their debut as a couple in July at the launch of her sister, Jessica Simpson's Fall 2013 collection.

Since then, the couple have been spotted on the red carpet together for the LA premiƩre of Hunger Games: Catching Fire back in November.

Ashlee previously dated Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza and was married to Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who is the father of her five-year-old son, Bronx.

Pete and Bronx enjoyed a trip to Disneyland together and were pictured enjoying a variety of rides at the famous theme park on Monday.

Not to be a know all, but here's what I know about denim. 'Mum' jeans are high waisted, shapeless numbers with either a straight, or tapered leg, that make your backside look a metre long. What Ashlee is wearing are ripped 'Boyfriend' jeans - a looser fitting, baggier cut that look as if you've borrowed them from your boyfriend. There you go!
