It looked like Matthew McConaughey wanted some company on Thursday, when his wife Camila and young children joined him for a jog in the Malibu sunshine.

The actor, who is trying to regain his muscly physique after dropping weight for a film role, led the way as Levi, five, and Vida, three, ran behind, accompanied by their mother.

After painting the perfect family picture, it appeared as if though the 44-year-old sprinted off on his own for a more intense work-out.

The family, who have recently returned from a holiday to Camila's hometown in Brazil, looked to be having a great time as they spent the day together.

Matthew was all geared up for his run, in black jogging bottoms, grey jacket and matching beanie hat, while listening to music.

The star added some colour to his ensemble with a pair of orange sunglasses, which matched his son's adorable woolly hat.

While the Brazilian model, 31, showed off her svelte figure in cropped, black leggins and a white hoodie.

He long locks were worn down as she sported a pair of aviator shades, while she clung onto a bottle of water.

At one point it appeared as thought the mother-of-three was trying to encourage her brood to keep up while Matthew ploughed on ahead.

Hard-working: The A-Lister has been paying a lot of attention to his work-out regime recently after dropping weight for a film role

The A-lister lost a staggering amount of weight to play the real-life AIDS-afflicted character of Ron Woodroof in The Dallas Buyers Club last year.

But he is doing his utmost to reclaim the muscular physique and was spotted out for a jog at the star of the week.

The star opened up to HitFix.com about the struggle he endured to shrink his frame - admitting it has been '90 per cent diet', and exercise less so.

Matthew also said that he was looking forward to eating normally again after wrapping on the film, which is set to be released next month.

That woman should work out WAY more than what she does. Is that a blouse she is wearing under the short-sleeved one, or does she really have the tattoos?
