Claire Danes is left with a great big turkey as latest film goes straight to DVD

Is Claire Danes’s first movie in five years heading straight to DVD in the UK? Teenage drama As Cool As I Am was released in just one US cinema before being pulled.

Now I’m told that the film’s distributor, Radiant International, is yet  to confirm a cinema screening date in the UK, despite securing the global distribution rights.

According to sources close to the 34-year-old Homeland star, Claire is devastated by the film’s failure, not least because she had hoped her starring role in Channel 4 drama would drum up interest.

‘Claire is disappointed, to say the least,’ says a friend. ‘She chose the film carefully and wanted a hit, but unfortunately has been left with a turkey.’

The news will add insult to injury for the Golden Globe winner, who saw the third series of Homeland suffer its lowest UK viewing figures just before Christmas.

‘The fact that this film’s fate coincided with Homeland’s fall from grace hasn’t helped. It’s a touchy subject,’ says the pal.

Meanwhile, Ewan McGregor’s latest project has flopped too.

The Trainspotting actor, 42, made a pilot episode for a television series called The Corrections – based on Jonathan Franzen’s novel of the same name – for American network HBO.

But executives weren’t impressed, even though the show’s stars included Maggie Gyllenhaal and the script had been written by Franzen himself.

‘The pilot didn’t inspire HBO to go for a full series,’ says a spokesman.

Fans of Only Fools And Horses will remember Peckham as the gritty South London district Del Boy always dreamed of leaving behind.

But Broadchurch star Olivia Colman, 39, loves it  so much she is transforming her family home there.

‘Olivia is gutting the ground floor,’ says a neighbour of the mother-of-two actress.

‘She’s also building an extension to add more space for her children.

'She could easily buy a new place but doesn’t want to leave the area.’

Colman’s latest series, The 7.39, starts tomorrow night on BBC1.

Her intensity in homeland is truly something to be commended, it stresses me out just to watch it! She is a truly gifted actress, she needn't worry about one movie. They wont all be hits.

Loved her in My So-Called Life. She never repeated that excellence.

Claire Danes is a great actress, she'll be just fine. Not every move you make is going to be a blockbuster.

Perhaps the US don't understand it, so they are hoping that the more esoteric Brits will give it a go!!!! .............Sammy.............

Not every film is going to make hundreds of millions at the box office - I've never even heard of this film until now which suggests it probably wasn't well promoted
