Defying Gravity! Sandra Bullock is fabulous at 49 as she showcases her figure in hot pink dress at Palm Springs Film Festival

She is being tipped for another Oscar for her turn as space-faring doctor Ryan Stone in Gravity.

But it was Sandra Bullock's body that was defying Gravity at a movie industry event in California on Saturday.

The 49-year-old flaunted a figure women half her age would be proud off as she walked the red carpet at the Palm Springs Internation Film Festival.

Sandra looked fantastic in a tight-fitting hot pink dress, which was detailed with orange lace sleeve, while she showcased her toned legs in a pair of nude stilettos.

She said: 'I do a lot of Pilates, kick-boxing and weight training in LA, and when I'm in Austin [Texas], I run or ride a bike.'

Sandra stunned her doubters when she won a best actress Oscar in 2010 for her work in The Blind Side, and could repeat the trick with Gravity.

And speaking about the film, which co-stars George Clooney, Sandra said the reason for its success was its gender neutrality.

She said: 'There is a female and male in it. The point of view is everyone's point of view, it just so happens that I have a female body and I fortunately got to do the part.

'We were very conscious to not make it about the sex -- we made it about the situation and the adversities, rather than "this is a woman in adversity" or a "man in adversity."

'Anyone can put themselves in my character's situation and feel exactly the same.'

Beige shoes obviously do not go with orange and pink. Should have matched the orange or pink or just gone with ivory or white. Also, I've always thought she had the strangest nose in Hollywood and now that she's older, it's even worse!
