Following a painful split with his partner Carlos Gonzalez, it looks as though Ricky Martin has been busy carrying on with his duties as a devoted father.

The singer was seen on Sunday, stepping out with his two children for the first time since the split at LAX.

Ricky was dressed down in jeans a black top as he accompanied his five-year old twins Matteo and Valentino.

The Livin' La Vida Loca singer's children were born via a surrogate in August 2008.

Ricky and his partner Carlos Gonzalez called time on their relationship after almost five years together just a few days ago.

A spokesperson for the 42-year-old star - who announced he was homosexual in 2010 after years of speculation - told People: 'Ricky and Carlos have mutually agreed to end their relationship but continue to be united by friendship and their shared experiences.'

A source close to the duo hinted in November that all was not well between them.

The insider said: 'They've spent very little time together and have grown apart. They've been on the outs for a while now.'

The Latin heartthrob previously gushed about Carlos and praised him for supporting him.

He told Vanity Fair magazine last April: 'I have experienced wonderful things with my partner.'

Adding: 'Complexity, understanding, and, at the same time, freedom, not being afraid that your partner is judging you. That is what I have found with Carlos.'

He added: 'We're going on four years together ... When I started the process with my sons, Carlos wasn't in my life.'

'He said: "I'm looking for a boyfriend, not a father with a family." And I said to him: "You've found a grown-up, full-fledged man." I created a family structure and if he didn't understand he'd ask me questions and we were on our way.'

Ricky's little boys are just beautiful! It sounds as if his ex wanted a boyfriend who was always at the ready to hit the town or go on holiday at the drop of a hat. Ricky has responsibilities and well done to him for sticking by his boys and not giving in to the whims of a temporary love interest. Many others would have dumped the little ones with a nanny or relative to keep boyfriend happy. Ricky has always come across as such a down to earth, good man and a brilliant father. Keep your chin up, Ricky. You will find someone worthy of both you AND your boys.

That has to be the most handsome family out there. The boys are so cute and Ricky is just perfect. He'll find someone else in time but he knows his priorities and that's the boys. Things happen for a reason so good luck to him.

The little boy walking behind...I think Valentino ( no glasses) is so comical because he's almost got the same expression on his face as his dad. It's so cute. They are an adorable family.....Ricky won't be a single dad for long if he doesn't want to be.

Ricky Martin is still so gorgeous and he really seems like a great dad to these little boys. He wanted to be a father so badly, and I don't see why he shouldn't be deprived of that. There are plenty of children growing up with just one parent and who receive just as much love from one as they would from two. They are two very very cute little boys as well...will grow up to be just as handsome as daddy I think. I like that Ricky tends to live a more private life as well...nobody really knew much about his relationship.
