Normally it's the expectant mother who delivers the news of her baby's sex.

But not in Courteney Cox's world.

On Tuesday the 49-year-old actress spilled the beans on the gender of her ex-husband David Arquette's expectant child while appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.

Baby momma Christina McLarty, 38, was not on hand to be congratulated.

The beauty, who was on the chat fest to promote her new season of Cougartown, said, 'They’re going to have a baby boy. I hope I’m allowed to say that.'

Ellen, who seemed surprised the actress revealed that personal bit of information, said, 'Well, now you’ve said it.'

Courteney nervously offered, 'I said it!'

The Scream star is not the only one to over share.

Last year David lifted the veil on his ex's love life when he told Howard Stern's radio show the funny girl had split from her Cougartown co-star Brian Van Holt and was seeing a new man (who was later revealed to be musician Johnny McNaid).

The conversation with Ellen then turned to how Coco, the nine-year-old daughter Courteney had with David.

'Yeah, she’s really excited,' the Alabama native said about the darling becoming a big sister.

'At first she was nervous because you know it’s a big deal. At first, I was nervous, I was like woo, heavy.'

But just like a typical Hollywood modern family, they're all friends.

'Now it’s great and we actually all had dinner the other night,' said the cover girl.

'The whole family. It’s a very unique relationship. All of us like literally, me and Christina and David and Coco. It’s great though.'

Ellen then offered, 'That’s the way it should be you know. Relationships don’t work out and it’s hard but you…especially when you have a child. You have to kind of come together for the kid.'

Christina, 38, is six months along with David's child.

The TV correspondent has been dating David off and on for almost two years. The actor separated from Courteney in 2010 but they only finalized their divorced last summer.

When it was hinted that the actor had popped the question to his lady love, she said, 'We are totally happy and together in love, but we are not engaged. It's just a rumour that got out of control.'

David has said of Christina, 'I'm madly in love with her and she's the love of my life. Absolutely.'

Arquette is currently filming Chuck Hank And The San Diego Twins and TV movie Happy Face.

Both Courtney and David need to stop talking about each other's private lives! They are not married anymore and whether they are still friendly or not they have other partners or ex partners to consider. I do kind of believe that they still love each other, so they feel they are close enough to talk about each other's lives, but I bet that David's girlfriend didn't appreciate it at all! What if they had wanted it to be private!

I love how everyone is moaning about Courtney dishing the babies sex on Ellen... Um did any of you listen to David's rants on Howard Stern's radio show!! He disclosed his entire marriage to Courtney on that show. Everything from their sex life to how and why they broke up! The whole nine yards! He also spoke out of school with regards to Jen Aniston and Brad Pitts Divorce.. That bloke couldn't keep his cake hole shut to save himself! So before you all go on a hate fest, perhaps do some research first!
