She wore striking blue for her latest TV appearance – ostensibly to promote her latest film – but it was an altogether different blue ensemble that caught the eye as she made her way into a West Hollywood studio on Tuesday evening.

Indeed, Amy Adams was greeted by fans as she arrived ahead of an interview with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, all of whom were eager to get close to the flame haired actress – perhaps none more so than one in particular, who stood out amongst an otherwise casually dressed group of autograph hunters in a distinctive Superman costume

The actress, who plays ambitious reporter Lois Lane in the reinvigorated movie franchise, appeared to be quite taken with the caped impersonator, who sidled up alongside her for a fun snap.

While he may have been lacking current Superman Henry Cavill’s strapping physique, he more than made up for it in height, and he towered over Amy as cameras flashed.

The 39-year-old actress was in high spirits on the night, pausing to sign calendars and pictures before making her way inside for a lengthy chat with Kimmel about her two new films – American Hustle and Her.

Amy, a parent to 3-year-old daughter Aviana with fiancé Darren Le Gallo, also admitted that she was forced to sleep on an air mattress over Christmas when extended family members converged on her LA home during the festive break.

She said: ‘I had about ten people, my fiancé’s parents, my dad and my step-mom, my niece, my brother, a couple of close friends, so about ten or 12 people at any given time.

‘You’ll have to understand that I don’t live in one of these sprawling mansions. I have a nice house, but I slept on a blow-up mattress – it was a king-size, I felt that was pretty luxurious.’

The actress will battle Meryl Streep, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Julie Delpy, and Greta Gerwig at the Golden Globes airing January 12 on NBC.

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson ensured that Adams' plunging ensembles as con woman Sydney Prosser in American Hustle never experienced an accidental flesh flash.

'The staying-on is partly due to a generous and carefully placed sprinkle of double-stick tape,' Wilkinson told The Hollywood Reporter.

'She carried herself in a very specific way to keep us within an R rating. Amy has amazing poise. Let's just say she studied how to move and never forgot about it.'
