A tasty starter! Kate Beckinsale and Emmy Rossum lead the way in sleeveless evening ensembles at star-studded private dinner with British designer Antonio Berardi

A private dinner with Antonio Berardi is always going to be a lavish affair – and those attending the event on Tuesday evening got a generous helping of glamour long before entrée’s were served at popular West Hollywood restaurant Mr. Chow.

Indeed, Kate Beckinsale led the way in an Antonio Berardi monochrome racer neck sheath dress from the designer's Resort 2014 collection she sashayed into the exclusive Beverly Hills soiree, where he played host for a star-studded guest list.

The actress looked toned, tanned and healthy as she posed for photos before making her way inside, her dark hair pushed back across her head and her frugal make-up evidently selected from a subtle, fleshy colour palette.

Kate finished the look with a smart clutch that she held in two perfectly manicured hands, while strappy heels – also black – continued a distinctly neutral theme as she clung onto the arm of director husband Len Wiseman.

The 40-year-old was joined at the event by fellow actress Emmy Rossum, whose own ensemble – an Antonio Berardi emerald green sequin top and skirt – was of a similar design.

Her outfit revealed two pale, slender arms as she made her way inside for a night of wining and dining with Grantham born Berardi.

The 27-year-old’s porcelain skin tone was all the more striking given her bold use of make-up, while the long sweep of raven hair that fell across her right shoulder had a jarring quality, appearing to wildly contrast with her pallid features.

But while most made a concerted effort to dress up for their night out in West Hollywood, acting couple Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger looked comparatively casual.

Spotted leaving the event later that evening, Diane looked casual in a loose fitting striped sweater and black leather trousers , with Joshua – who brought up the rear – equally relaxed in a plain V-neck sweater.

Nicole Ritchie, whose slender frame has raised eyebrows over recent weeks, turned heads for an entirely different reason when she arrived in a stylish black satin and nude silk chiffon zip-front dress with rise and fall hemline from Berardi's Spring Summer 2014 collection.

The mother-of-two was without husband Joel Madden as she posed for photos with burlesque star Dita Von Teese, who looked equally striking in a black satin dress with flared skirt and coral reef embroidery, also from the Spring Summer 2014 collection.

Also in attendance was Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, whose sleeveless burgundy ensemble accentuated her pale skin tone.

Meanwhile Brie Larson arrived in a tri-color silk chiffon top, with a silk pleated reptile print skirt, both from Antonio Berardi’s Spring Summer 2014 collection.
