'Ellen DeGeneres told me I was fat!' Drew Barrymore jokes about her pregnant figure as she covers up in yellow and white at People's Choice Awards

It's hardly the nicest thing to say to a pregnant woman.

But luckily Drew Barrymore saw the humour when comedian Ellen DeGeneres called her 'fat' at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

So amusing did she find the lighthearted jibe, that the 38-year-old actress shared it with the audience as she presented Adam Sandler with an award.

'Ellen DeGeneres just told me I was fat! But I'm not! It was really funny,' Drew, who is pregnant with her second child with Will Kopelman, laughed.

It was certainly a fitting introduction for the A-list actress, who was tasked with honouring her frequent co-star with the Favourite Comedic Movie Actor award.

Clearly comfortable with one another - recently working on the film Blended together - Drew welcomed him with a hug and kiss.

The Never Been Kissed star was seen in a white and yellow Vionnet dress, teamed with Roger Vivier shoes, and a Kara Ross clutch.

She opted for a natural look of make-up but punched it up with a coral lip colour.

Meanwhile, Drew's shiny honey locks were sleeked into a straight 'do that flowed past her bold Irene Neuwirth earrings - which was accompanied with a matching ring.

The He's Just Not That Into You star told the December issue of Women's Health that she was taking it easy with her style.

And it's clear that being the perfect mum is way more important to her than looking the part.

'You're not supposed to look perfect while you're making babies - making babies is the perfection.

'It's about feeling good in clothes and knowing you can get dressed up for an evening and work it for a minute.

'You know, maybe get back into a certain pair of jeans, but there's just no such thing as perfection. If you're trying to get there, you're just torturing yourself.'

In fact, Drew headed to upmarket eaterie, Madeo after the awards with her husband Will Kopelman and a group of friends.

The pretty star slipped out of her yellow gown and into a much more comfortable blue sweater, blue and white marl jacket and smart blue cigarette pants for the occasion.

She added a splash of colour with a glam pair of red high-heel court shoes for the dinner date which matched her scarlet red lipstick. She carried a contrasting banana-yellow clutch bag.

After the meal, Drew cradled her blossoming bump protectively before she headed home in her car, with her husband Will behind the wheel.
