In real life, Ben Affleck is married to cheerful actress Jennifer Garner.

But in his new film Gone Girl, the actor's spouse is a real stiff.

To drum up early buzz for the October film Gone Girl - in which Ben's wife, played by Rosamund Pike, is presumed murdered - the Oscar winner posed for a disturbing photo with his gorgeous co-star for the new cover of Entertainment Weekly

The setting of the dark cover shot was a morgue.

Wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black socks, the Argo star lovingly wraps his arm and leg around his seemingly deceased co-star.

With eyes eerily wide open, the 34-year-old former Bond girl stares coldly wearing a nightgown and a toe tag hanging off her right foot.

Despite the appearance of death, Rosamund's gorgeous blonde locks and natural beauty still shine through.

The shot definitely has a creepy vibe as knives and scissors are displayed next to the characters, as if she's ready for her autopsy.

The creepy photo was conceived and taken by the thriller's director David Fincher.

In the film, based on the bestselling 2012 novel by Gillian Flynn, Ben plays plays NIck Dunne, a man who becomes the prime suspect when his wife vanishes on their fifth wedding anniversary.

The novel spent eight weeks on top of the New York Times Bestsellers list and sold over two million copies in its first year.

Rosamund landed the role of Amy Dunne, which had some of Hollywood's biggest actresses vying for the part.

Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt and Olivia Wilde were all reportedly considered at varying points.

The 34-year-old beauty was most recently seen opposite Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher.

Meanwhile, Hollywood A-lister Ben has been riding a career high by winning the Best Picture Oscar for producing Argo last year and then getting cast as the new Batman.

When news broke he'd be the next Caped Crusader, the Internet nearly blew up with all the negative comments.

But the father of three isn't discouraged telling Playboy recently, 'When people see it, it will make more sense than it does now or even than it did to me initially.'

'If I thought the result would be another Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself.
Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I could be good in it?'

Gone Girl hits theaters on October 3rd.

Why would you make a movie Ben, if you thought that it was going to be rubbish?? For the money. You think we are simple!!

"Why would I make a movie if I didn't think it would be good and that I could be good in it?" Questions Cuba Gooding Junior and Ethan Hawk should have asked themselves many, many times, many, many straight-to-DVD movies ago.

Really excited to see this movie as I loved the book! Bit disappointed with how it ended but will be interesting to see a movie adaptation. Such a long time to wait though! Maybe a bit early to be doing promotion for it?

Yes it does sound like The Fugitive. I was thinking this story line was already done (well) by Harrison Ford.
