Couples retail therapy: Ashlee Simpson and boyfriend Evan Ross show off their quirky styles as they hit the shops

They often step out in very similar outfits – mostly band T-shirts and skinny black jeans.

But on Wednesday Ashlee Simpson and her boyfriend Evan Ross mixed things up a bit as they went clothes shopping in West Hollywood.

The 29-year-old mother-of-one embraced her inner bohemian, while Evan seemed to take inspiration from Kanye West.

Ashlee, who was previously married to Pete Wentz, wore a pair of slim fit blue jeans with a loose fitting white T-shirt.

Making the outfit more exciting she wore a kimono style duster and draped black beads around her neck.

Her cool shopping look was completed with a pair of black ankle boots and large sunglasses, while her blonde hair fell loose around her shoulders.

Evan, 25, meanwhile wore a very mismatched outfit – opting for grey jogging bottoms tucked into a pair black military style boots.

He teamed that with a black blazer over a crumbled looking white T-shirt, and he too wore sunglasses.

As they headed back to their car following the shopping trip, Ashlee reached out to hold her new man’s hand.

The Pieces Of Me singer and 25-year-old musician and actor reportedly began dating in June, making their debut as a couple in July at the launch of Jessica Simpson's Fall 2013 collection.

And it's been quite a whirlwind romance, as the actor, who is the son of Diana Ross, recently admitted he's head over heels for Ashlee.

'Yeah, she's the one,' he pledged to Yahoo omg!, adding that he can 'foresee' wedding bells in their future.

'It’s amazing,' he added.

'I’m so in love and we’ve got amazing things going on. And we inspire each other.'

Ashlee previously dated Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza and was married to Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who is the father of her five-year-old son, Bronx.
