Jane Fonda was in good company on Wednesday evening when she stepped out for a lunch date in West Hollywood.

The legendary actress was making her way to popular eatery Craig’s – and she made sure pet pooch Tulea got her fair share of the limelight by bringing her along.

Jane was in high spirits as she greeted onlookers after arriving at the restaurant with the 8-year-old dog held in her left hand.

The 76-year-old looked smart in an all-black ensemble for her evening out, opting for a loose fitting trouser suit and matching, square-toe shoes.

A lilac printed top beneath her jacket provided the outfit with an added splash of colour, while accessories – primarily the quilted Chanel handbag she held in her right hand – were tasteful and complimentary.

Sparking earrings and a gold necklace finished off a distinctive evening look for the actress as she paused briefly to acknowledge waiting photographers before making her way inside.

Writing on her blog in 2011, Jane revealed her pooch – a Coton Du Tulear whose name derives from the Madagascan town Tulear, where the breed originates – through a Montreal based breeder.

The two-time Oscar winner, who has been politically active for much of her adult life, founded the Women's Media Center in 2005 along with political activists and leaders in the feminist movement Gloria Steinem and Robin Morgan, to ensure that women have a voice in all aspects of media.

During an appearance on CBS This Morning on September 18, alongside Gloria and Robin, the two-time Oscar winner said: 'What do we do is we make people aware of it. If you don't know if there's a problem, you can't name it and you can't solve it.

'We see women's faces on television but we don't realise that men outweigh women in the media and the media determines how we feel about ourselves whether its print, radio, television.

‘We're outnumbered. We're having an impact because we're making people aware.’

Her dog looks just like mine! She died in May, so it's a little emotional for me to see that Jane Fonda has the same one. They look nice together.

Hanoi Jane. Still disgusting and without decency after all these years.

She looks amazing, but more importantly she's very kind and uses her celebrity to do loads of charity work. Love her!

Its like those ugly women who used wear a money on their shoulder to make them look more beautiful. Can't understand why anyone would want to take a dog into a restaurant other than wanting to draw attention to themselves.

I have a Coton du Tulear and they are delightful dogs with wonderfully soft coats and a lovely temperament.

Do you drag them to restaurants as well? Jane looks very good for her age. That would be her genetics. However dragging around her dog everywhere is like a child lugging around their favorite stuffed animal which is appropriate for children. Not for adults.
