Al Horford out indefinitely with torn pectoral muscle |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (12/27/13) The Hawks have officially announced that center Al Horford will miss significant time because of a complete tear of his right pectoral muscle, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Horford suffered the injury Thursday against the Cavaliers. He was averaging 18.6 points, 8.4 boards and 1.5 blocks through 29 games. He previously suffered a tear in his other pectoral in 2011-12, and the injury caused him to miss nearly four months (55 games) while recovering. The team has not set a timetable for his return and have ruled him out indefinitely.

Report: Hawks fear another torn pectoral for Al Horford |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (12/27/13) Hawks center Al Horford suffered an injury to his chest Thursday against the Cavaliers, and initial indications are that he might have suffered a serious injury. CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger reports Friday Horford might have torn his right pectoral muscle, though the team is awaiting the results of an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.
Horford previously suffered a tear in his other pectoral in 2011-12, and the injury caused him to miss nearly four months while recovering. At this point, there is no timetable known for Horford's possible absence.
Horford is averaging 18.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game on the season, prior to the injury. The MRI results will likely be known in the coming days.

Al Horford bounced back with a rock-solid 2012-13 campaign for the Hawks. Less than a year removed from pectoral surgery, Horford played 74 games and took his game to another level, averaging career-highs in points (17.4), rebounds (10.2) and steals (1.1). He also shot 54.3 percent from the field and averaged 3.2 assists and 1.1 blocks while logging a career-high 37.2 minutes per game, making him the fourth most productive center in Fantasy last season. He doubled up in 43 games, another career high. Horford will be 27 entering his seventh season in the league and is a double-double threat on a nightly basis. His solid all-around production also makes him one of the more productive big men in Rotisserie leagues at a thin position, so consider him as a solid option in the early rounds of most Fantasy drafts.
