John Wall leads the way in East dunk contest victory |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (2/16/14) Wizards guard John Wall isn't the biggest guy in the league, but his leaping abilities are well known. One of three point guards in Saturday's dunk contest, Wall rose above the competition and earned the Dunker of the Night award for his part in the contest.
Wall helped the Eastern conference teams win the initial freestyle round along with Paul George and Terrence Ross, and then took down Ben McLemore in the head-to-head round with a reverse double-pump dunk over the Wizards' mascot to earn the fan's vote.
Wall will make his first appearance in an All-Star game Sunday, as he is in the midst of the best season of his career. He is averaging 19.8 points, 8.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game in his 52 appearances.

Paul George held to 12 points for second straight game |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (2/12/14) Pacers forward Paul George scored just 12 points for the second consecutive game Wednesday, making just four of his 17 shots in his team's 81-73 loss to the Mavericks.
George has scored 12 points or less just eight times this season, so his struggles from the field have been uncommon. He managed to record seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 38 minutes Wednesday. George has averaged 22.2 points and 6.4 rebounds over 52 games played.

Paul George connects on five treys in loss to Magic |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (2/9/14) Pacers guard Paul George caught fire from behind the arc on Sunday, connecting on five 3-pointers in his team's 93-92 loss to the Magic in Orlando.
George scored a team-high 27 points on 10 of 19 shooting from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point land, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He did all of his damage in 35 minutes of game action, also adding seven rebounds, three assists and one steal. He has averaged 19.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists over his last five games played.

Paul George stuck in a shooting slump |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (2/4/14) Pacers guard Paul George continued his subpar shooting Tuesday against the Hawks, nailing less than half of his shots for the sixth game in a row.
George scored 18 points, but he struggled with his efficiency throughout. He scored his 18 on 6 of 16 shooting, including a 2-for-8 mark from three-point range; a 4-for-4 showing at the free-throw line salvaged an otherwise poor game. He added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, but also turned the ball over five times in the 89-85 win.
George is in the midst of a breakout campaign, but has had some struggles with his shot along the way. Over his last six games, George is averaging 16.2 points per game while shooting just 32.0 percent from the field, but is averaging a career-best 22.8 points per game.

Paul George pours 36 in OT thriller |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (1/25/14) In his first game after being named an All-Star starter for the first time in his career, Pacers guard Paul George continued his dominant play on Friday, scoring a team-high 36 points on 12 of 22 shooting from the field, including 4 of 10 from downtown, and 8 of 8 from the free throw line in 116-111 overtime win over Sacramento.
George helped his team overcome a 17-point deficit, and knocked down three of his four treys in the second half, including two in the third quarter. He knocked down a 3-pointer and was fouled by Derrick Williams, converting a 4-point play with 15 seconds left in regulation. He also scored eight of his 36 points in overtime.
George did all of his damage in 41 minutes of game action, also chipping in with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and four steals. He has had eight games with at least 30 points this season. Two of them have come over his last five games. He has averaged 29.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists over that span.

The absence of Danny Granger last season allowed Paul George to emerge as a superstar, and it will be interesting to see how the Pacers balance having both of them at their disposal. George averaged career-highs across the board, including 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in 2012-13, while playing 37.6 minutes per game and moving to his more natural position of small forward. The Pacers will have to figure out how to juggle George and Granger, and it could lead to some growing pains at first. Still, George was a bonafide No. 1 Fantasy guard last season, and should be considered as such this season as well. Fantasy owners cannot let him slip past the first few rounds on Draft Day.
