It's four years after the last story came to an end, but Jack Bauer certainly hasn't lost any of his edge.
Kiefer Sutherland was seen shooting scenes for the new 24 series Live Another Day in London on Monday, with glimpses from the set showing that the 12-part season will be more action-packed and exciting than ever.
The action picks up as Kiefer's character Jack is a fugitive in the capital and on the run from the CIA.
Jack Bauer gets shot! Kiefer Sutherland was seen filming scenes for the high-octane new series of 24 in London on Monday
In adrenaline-fuelled sequence, Jack is baring his gun during a face-off with an unknown assailant.
After attempting to talk the other shooter down, Jack then makes the decision to lower his own weapon, in a bid to prove his neutrality.
But his call doesn't go too well, as Jack is seen reeling in pain after receiving a gun shot to the chest.
Ok, you got me: After being caught in a gun battle, possibly with the CIA, Jack is seen lowering his weapon to the ground
First look: Fans also get their first glimpse of Chuck favourite Yvonne Strahovski in character as CIA agent Kate Morgan
I'm putting it down: Jack gradually lowers his firearm as he realises he won't win the right
It's on the ground: Jack continues to try and talk his way out of things as he lays his gun on the floor
Fully immersed into the Jack Bauer character once again, Kiefer, 47, looked in his element as he shot the scenes, looking dapper and sexy in his leather jacket and jeans.
The scenes are also the first time fans will get their first glimpse of Chuck favourite Yvonne Strahovski, who takes on the role of CIA agent Kate Morgan in the series.
Kate, along with a team of CIA operatives, is given the task of tracking fugitive Jack down and bringing him in.
Injured: But Jack's negotiation techniques clearly don't pay off, and he is seen reeling in pain as he takes bullet to the chest
Falling to the ground: Jack is seen falling backwards after the bullet hits his torso with almighty force
Is he still alive? The CIA agents run up to an injured Jack
I'll take it from here: Kate runs up as Jack lays stationary on the floor
'In
the minds of the CIA, he’s not quite Osama bin Laden but he’s a
fugitive of a high order,' executive producer Evan Katz said recently.
'We will learn he has a mission. Whether it’s good or dark we don’t know, but the CIA is determined to catch him.'
While it is not clear exactly who shot Jack, it appears to be that his battle might be with the CIA - who were also seen running around with guns on an adjacent building.
Making his escape: Prior to the gun battle, Jack was seen trying to escape the CIA with an athletic display which also saw him jump through windows
Dashing off: Jack tries to make a run for it as the chase continues in the block of flats
Tight squeeze: No obstacle is too small for Jack, as he showed by squeezing through an incredibly small space
Run, Jack, run: Seeing his opportunity, Jack runs away from the scene
On his tail: Kate and her team of CIA operatives are seen chasing Jack in the adrenaline-fuelled scenes
Face off: Kate and her fellow operative raise their guns as the battle continues
Prior to the shooting, Jack showed no signs of turning himself in quietly, with an athletic displays as he attempts to escape the CIA.
From jumping out of windows to climbing through incredibly narrow spaces, Jack does his utmost to get away from the agents, before they eventually catch him and the gun battle commences.
Prior to filming started on the new series, Kiefer admitted to being more than a little anxious about the project, saying: 'I'm terrified. I won't lie to you.
Wrapped up: Kiefer wore a giant coat to stay warm as he and Yvonne walked to the set
Off set friends: Despite their characters being mortal enemies, Yvonne and Kiefer looked good pals off set
In and out of character: Yvonne wore jeans and boots as Kate, and wrapped up in a padded jacket in between takes
Starring role: Tamer Hassan is another familiar face who will be making an appearance in the new series
'Until we start shooting, I'm about as anxious and wound up as I've been in a long time.'
The action starts four years after the drama’s final season and will play out, as usual, in real time. However, unlike previous seasons, there will only be 12 episodes, instead of 24.
The series, which originally ran for eight seasons between 2001 and 2010, won an Emmy award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006, and Sutherland won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in the same year.
On the run: Another young man carrying a briefcase and a pretty blonde also appeared to be involved in the chase scenes
Feeling chilly? The blonde actress wore patterned tights and a miniskirt, but wrapped up in between takes
Kiefer also recently said that the new series doesn't necessarily mean that a 24 movie won't happen.
Speaking
via Total Film, he said: 'The
film is an ongoing situation. There's always an opportunity to do that.
Howard [Gordon] came up with an idea for a 12-episode run at this, and
it was the opportunity that presented itself to us first.'
He explained. 'It was a fantastic idea, and it's something that we’re very excited about doing, and it’s something that we’re really primarily focused on. So, if this ends up rebooting the show or causing a film to be made, so be it.'
Fugitive style: Kiefer looked dapper in a leather jacket and jeans in between takes

I have recently been watching 24 all over again on Netflix and can't wait for the new series. No other actor could play Jack Bauer as well as Kiefer, he is just brilliant in the role.
