Easy Crock Pot Pulled Pork Sandwich Recipe
Here we are and it is Memorial Day weekend already and I bet you are looking for an easy pulled pork sandwich recipe to make. Pulled pork sandwiches is a favorite family recipe in my family.
If you love the taste of pulled pork but hate the time it takes to make on the grill this Easy Crock Pot Recipe for Pulled Pork Sandwiches is for you.
With this easy crock pot recipe all you need to do is toss all the ingredients in the crock pot and four hours later you have a crock pot full of delicious pulled pork and you didn’t even have to break a sweat once.
Not everyone has the time or inclination to pull out the barbeque grill and grill up a pork roast to make pulled pork sandwiches.
I love smoking a big pork roast and making pulled pork sandwiches but sometimes I like to have a pulled pork sandwich during the week.
Cooking a pork roast on the grill takes hours. Plus you have to go in and out of the house to keep an eye on the grill and the roast during cooking time. Sometimes I just don’t feel like messing with the grill for hours.
The best part is that this pulled pork recipe only has 5 ingredients.
- Boneless Pork Riblets
- Barbecue sauce
- Brown Sugar
- Dry Mustard
- Garlic Powder
You can find the recipe in Ziplist format at the bottom of this post.
Assemble your ingredients and turn the crock pot to the high setting.
Pour half of the bottle of barbeque sauce into the bottom of the crock pot. Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce happens to be my favorite bbq sauce but you can use whatever brand you want.
Put all the pork riblets into the crock pot on top of the barbeque sauce. By the way you can use boneless chicken breasts instead of pork to make barbecue chicken sandwiches instead.
Pour the remaining bbq sauce over the riblets. Add about a tablespoon of water to the empty bottle and shake it up to catch the last bit of bbq sauce and pour that into the crock pot also. Add the garlic powder and dry mustard. If you are out of dry mustard feel free to add a squirt of yellow mustard to the crock pot. I do it all the time.
I added brown sugar to this recipe after it was done because I totally forgot to add it during the cooking time. If you don’t like a sweet bbq flavor to your pulled pork you can omit the brown sugar completely. Taste the sauce after it has been cooking for about an hour. The brown sugar mellows out the tangy flavor and really give the bbq sauce a rich flavor that I love.
Mix everything together so the sauce covers the pork riblets. Put the lid on and cook for 4 hours. Stir once every hour.
After four hours of cooking in the crock pot the pork riblets will be fork tender and ready to pull. You can use a ladle or large spoon to dip out the grease that has settled on top of the barbecue sauce.
To pull the pork use a fork to mash the riblets against the side of the crock pot. The pork will fall apart because it is so tender. Leave some large chunks. Serve on a bun with homemade coleslaw and a pasta salad.
Easily serves a family of five with left overs.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds boneless pork riblets
- 1 bottle Sweet Baby Ray BBQ Sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Pour half the bottle BBQ sauce into the bottom of the crock pot.
- Add all the riblets.
- Pour the remaining bbq sauce over the riblets.
- Add seasonings and brown sugar if using..
- Mix to cover the pork.
- Cook on high for 4 hours.
- When done cooking use a fork to pull the pork apart.
- Serve on buns with a side of coleslaw and macaroni salad.

Hi Robin
I sure will! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi there, I was wondering if I can do this recipe with a pork roast instead of the riblets? That is what i happen to have on hand at the moment!
Valerie yes you can use a roast just make sure it is covered in bbq sauce and the cooking time will of course be longer.
Absolutely love pulled pork, looks fabulous!

Thanks for inviting me and hosting a great linky party.
This is the first time that I’ve made pulled pork in the slow cooker..and I will make again..:0)
Brenda Lee I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe! It is so good I make it about twice a month for the family.
This looks so good and easy! We are camping in 3 weeks and I think this will be one of our meals. Question though – are pork riblets the same as boneless country pork strips. I have never seen anything in the grocery store labeled pork riblets.
Anna
Thank you! Yes pork riblets are the same thing as the boneless pork strips.
I’ve done it with a pork shoulder cut in half, but never with boneless ribs – thanks for the suggestion! Now I’m hungry
Elizabeth
I have also used the thinly sliced boneless pork chops but it turns out so much better and moist with the riblets.
And you can purchase pork riblets in the grocery store?
Anne
Yes you can buy boneless pork riblets in the grocery store. They may be called something different in your area of the country. Another commenter knows them as boneless pork strips.
I’d kike to make this while at work. Can it cook all day on low?
Cynthia I have never cooked it on low so I am not sure how long it would take. But if you have cooked in your crockpot something like boneless chicken breasts or pork chops and they turned out fine then these will also. As long as the riblets are not too small they should cook fine and not dry out.
This looks great! I have all those ingredients except for the boneless pork ribs.. I was wondering if boneless pork chops could work..
Jerica
Yes boneless pork chops work as well.
This looks good, and so easy. I love the crockpot meals.
This looks amazing! I was wondering if this would work with chicken instead?
Ariel
Yes it works great with boneless chicken breast.
Did I miss something!? I’m a recipe girl & there aren’t any amounts for this:) help!
Never mind I see it now:)
What size bottle of baby ray’s did you use?
I made just 1 lb of this last week for my husband and I …it was really good! Now we’re planning to make the full version for a party. How many servings did you make from this recipe?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Cheryl
I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe! I used the regular size bottle of Baby Ray’s not the extra big bottle. This recipe fed my family of 6 (5 adults, 1 child) and we had plenty of leftovers
Thanks! We wound up having a party of 8 adults…many who went back for seconds..and still had leftovers. Lots of compliments from the guests!
Cheryl
I am so happy to hear that! This is one of my favorite recipes. I make it all the time. I’m so glad you and your guests enjoyed it.
Love your site! Making crock pot Pulled Pork for the first time (I’m 60 yrs old ) HA! My Daughter AND my Mother both make amazing pulled pork… But wanted more info. Thanks for the great recipe, and images. You have been a big help this morning. Serving 14 PP tonight, don’t want to mess it up
Lynn
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed my pulled pork recipe!
Would pork tenderloin or bone in ribs work?i can not find boneless ribs anywhere!
Thanks a lot!
Doug yes the pork tenderloins would work. I’ve even used thick cut boneless pork chops.
This is the best pulled pork recipe I’ve ever made. It is simply to die for. Sweet, moist and really saucy, just the way we love it! Thanks so much for sharing!
Melissa
Thank you!I am so glad you loved the recipe.
I couldn’t find boneless riblets, the butcher told me to use pork butt. Will this work?
Shay
Boneless pork chops will work also. I have not made this recipe with a pork butt. It would work also but you may need to double the ingredients for the bbq sauce so it covers the pork butt in the crock pot.
I love this! Taste great and everyone else I made it for loved it too!

I dont have a crock pot but I do have a pressure cooker, will that work? Has anyone tried? And also how long should I cook it and would that change the whole recipe? Thanks.
Ale
I have never used a pressure cooker so I can’t say if it would work.
How many does this recipe serve
Mary
This recipe will serve 6 to 8 adults.
