With two famous funny men on the same set, things are bound to get giggly.

Ben Stiller and Ricky Gervais were working hard at keeping each other entertained on another day on the set of Night At The Museum 3 in New York.

By Friday the snow that had cast and crew shivering in their coats on previous days had begun to melt in the timid sunshine, causing smiles all around.

The two pivotal stars were seen filming one scene near the American Museum Of Natural History and exchanging a few lines, but once the director yelled 'Cut!' they would break into smiles and start joking.

The 48-year-old Ben was in a great mood and even waved at some curious bystanders while Ricky, 52, clasped his hands and surveyed his surroundings with a chipper look.

On Thursday, Ricky was seen filming more scenes for the big-budget Night At The Museum threequel.

The star was spotted in New York City wading through the snow, powering on with filming for the movie despite the adverse weather.

Wearing a dickie bow and a tweed jacket the star smiled between takes as he sat on a bench in a central NYC park, knee deep in snow.

With his hair combed back and thick gloves on the actor waited patiently on the bench between takes, keeping the cast and crew amused with impromptu jokes.

The actor is set to reprising his role as Dr. McPhee in the children’s comedy flick, also starring Ben Stiller and Skyler Gisondo.

And it looked like the actor was living up to his character's sentiment; Dr. McPhee famously said: 'Let's all laugh at me, the comedy night guard.'

When Ricky was shooting for the movie, snow was piled up around the star to make it look like he was snowed in.

With reflective sunglasses on the star looked sombre and serious as he performed for the cameras.

And it was another day, another location for NITM stars Ben Stiller and Skyler Gisondo who were spotting filming in London on Monday and flew back to New York for more filming on Thursday.

Ben was working with 17-year-old Skyler, who has replaced Jake Cherry as his onscreen son NIck Daley.

With the temperatures at a high of just 32F, both actors were well covered up in cold weather gear for their scenes in Central Park and on the city's streets.

The 48-year-old wore a brown jacket over washed-out black jeans, plus heavy brown boots and black gloves.

With snow on the ground, the comedian wrapped a black and white check scarf around his neck and turned up the collar of his jacket to keep out the cold.

But that was evidently not warm enough for the chilly Zoolander star - at every gap in filming he pulled on an oversized black quilted coat.

Skyler looked like a typical teenager in a padded jacket over a thick shirt and sweatshirt and plus blue jeans, a beanie, woolly fingerless gloves and boots. He carried a rucksack over his shoulder.

His previous work includes The Bill Engvall Show and Jake Kasdan’s Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and will also make an appearance in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The first Night At The Museum filmed at New York City's American Museum of Natural History in 2006 and moved to Washington DC's Smithsonian Institute for 2009's follow-up.

The third edition filmed at the British Museum and across London and is due to move onto Vancouver B.C. after its New York stint before it wraps.

The new film will see Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais reprise their respective roles as Jedediah and Dr. McPhee – but they will be joined by a host of new cast members.

Among these will be Sir Ben Kingsley, who has signed up to play a ‘formidable Egyptian pharaoh’ who comes to life with the aid of a magic tablet, and Rebel Wilson, who will play a security guard at the museum.

The film, directed by Shawn Levy, is scheduled for release on December 25. This means it will go head-to-head with Peter Jackson's third and final Hobbit film, There And Back Again.

ANOTHER one of these movies. Why does Hollywood like ruining/milking a 'good' thing.

I remember seeing Phillip Seymour Hoffman for the first time in his role opposite Ben Stiller in Along Came Polly. He completely stole every scene he was in. I thought he was amazing and wasn't surprised when he excelled in all of this movie roles from that point on. Very sad he passed away too soon. Such a waste.

2 of my favorite men. It was shocking that Ricky Gervais won nothing for Derek. It just shows that the majority of Brits do not know real comedy. He is a comedy genius.
