Nickelodeon star Drake Bell 'files for bankruptcy claiming he's $581,000 in debt'

Drake Bell, a former child actor who starred in Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy.

The 27-year-old star filed legal documents claiming that he's $581,000 in debt, according to TMZ.

While he listed the value of his home at $1.575 million, he apparently still owes $1.597 million.

Bell indicated that his monthly expenses total $18,771 and that he's only pulling in $2,820 a month, TMZ claims.

The former child actor listed 2012 as a good year in which he earned $408,000, but the next year saw him making just $14,099.

TMZ further reported that Bell also a hefty amount in taxes.

Bell appeared to deny the website's report via his Twitter account on Wednesday. 

'Sweet! Finally TMZ has printed false statements about me!! Hahaha,' he wrote.

In recent years Bell has provided the voice in several animated TV shows.

Lately he has been focusing more on his music career and last month released the single Bitchcraft from his forthcoming album.

Bell gained attention for his recent public bashing of teen idol Justin Bieber, taking to Twitter to criticise Bieber's recent run-in with the law.

Really don't see how celebs can blow money so easily, unless your at the very top of your industry and are making a steady income why spend so much on massive houses that cost more than you have? Just buy a reasonably priced home you can live on for yours with your fortune

Sad! These young stars need to invest when they first get these paychecks. $400k salary could turn into a ton more money if invested properly. A monthly $18k lifestyle is just plain irresponsible.
