The South African researchers have made a huge discovery in the cell treatment study, local media reported on Monday.

A massive breakthrough was made by the researchers from the Department of Microbial Biochemical and Food Biotechnology and Physics at the University of the Free State as they were exploring the properties of yeast cells in wine and food, the news24 reported.

The researchers were surprised to discover maze of tiny passages like gas chambers in cells as slicing open them with argon gas particles and looking inside, said the report.

The report believed that the cell exploration breakthrough might have enormous implications for the treatment of the diseases in humans.

The cell-opening-up techniques used by the South African researchers caught the attentions of the scientists at the Tumor Angiogenesis and Vascular Biology Research Center in the US

In collaboration with the South African researchers the US scientists used this technology to peer inside cells from a cancer patient in seeking information on the effect of the treatment, said the report.

This technique would finally assist doctors to make treatment more adaptive to patients in an effort to accurately eliminate the cancer.

"This technique we developed has enormous potential for cell research, whether it is for cancer treatment or ant other investigation into the working of cells," Professor Lodewyk Kock from the University of the Free State was quoted as saying.
