Thought at long last I'd start a thread here and pour my progress pics/rantings/problems, etc.

I'm very impressed with the result. Could not have asked for better.

Wow - nice job.

Did the car end up the one in your Avatar? I love that light yellow. Looks great.

finally, after months of patience..

2k paint, colour code = yellow 40C, Opel/Vauxhall chart.

The avatar is of my other 124 (I own 2 of them). Also bare/sleeping in my spare garage.

Happiest man on the planet..

Fantastic work here, the black on the yellow looks great (hornet). But with the paint underneath, aren't u worried about stone chips? I'm just asking cause I'm working on this part at the moment. How far are u from putting it all back together? Great work, keep it going!

Granted, you can't keep it clean forever. However, at least with a 2k paint and added hardener, it can be touched up nicely. Nothing else you can do really. Could've gone with rubber/stone-chip, but it would never have looked like.. well you can tell from the pics.

I've had the Fiat at my home for just over a week now so no real work besides some paintwork/chroming. I work long hours so finding time is a mission.

Can i ask; do you get any damage (panel, etc) from the car resting on its side while working underneath?

Always thought a rotisserie was best/only way but have seen cars like this a few times now

Very nice; more photos!!

Not at all. The undercarriage prep was done before any panel prep, and I was reassured by the panelshop (in writing of course) that they would incur any costs should they damage the fenders.
Although if I had a rotisserie that would have been ideal. I've don't know a soul who owns one here and to manufacture one would cost a fortune, so I didn't have much choice.

More photo's to follow for sure.

Meh. Progressing slowly..

The chroming guys are very busy, making me wait weeks.

Wheels are 17" X 7J. I plan to go 225/35 at the rear and 205/35 up front.

Front suspension pics to follow..

The motor is all new (its been driven a measly 1100km's), and was all but perfect before removal, so just a few changes on my mind:

1. adjustable gears
2. K&N filters
3. stainless 4-1 exhaust
4. If something can be chromed, it shall

I'll post pictures as well as a full spec list as soon as I'm done with it.

Beautiful - did you or the chrome guys have to take any dings out of the bumpers or were they perfect already?

There's a bloke here in Melbourne that has the pattern of the Fiat bumper's to take out the digs if there are any. I sent mine there and they came back perfect! He re chromes too.

Hey Giallo,

Me too.Just picked my front and back up last Saturday.I use Pro Plating (used to be Prahran Platers) and they sent damaged bits out probably to your guy.Should note though that 124Life's plating job is Show Quality and that makes my job look dull by comparison.Pro plating can accomodate this standard ,but big $'s.

124 Life

Enjoying your progress.

Good luck with it

Thanks for all the comliments guys. Really gets me going.

Borderland wrote:

There were minor dents, but nothing serious. The plating shop has a metal repair division next door, which is awesome. It makes good sense as well since for most chrome jobs the clients won't want to fork out big $ for chrome on damaged/dented metal. Will cost more $ but so worth it. And the finished product is so beautiful it is driving me insane.

I seriously plan to chrome everything. Watch this space!!

Been far too busy at work ( I know, it's not an excuse ) so no real progress thus far.

I am tackling the rear & front suspension, braking system, engine & electrical components all at the same time. It might take sometime before I post anything substantial.

But for now I guess I could upload a few pics..

I thought I had made some comments about this coupe. MAMA MIA I think I can almost say ( for what I have seen so far!) this will end up being one of the best BCs world wide!

Yes, please mount era correct wheels!

spend the cash on these
