About

Since 1949, General Aviation News has been bringing information about the world of general aviation to our subscribers.

The publication has had a number of names over the years – Sell-A-Plane, Northwest Flyer, Western Flyer, The Flyer, General Aviation News & Flyer and finally General Aviation News – but the goal has always been the same: provide up-to-the-minute, factual details about all aspects of general aviation and do it in a manner that is enjoyable to read.

The Sclair family entered the aviation media landscape in earnest with the purchase of the Northwest Flyer in 1970. As the publication grew, the name was evolved to the Western Flyer. In 1989, General Aviation News was purchased and combined with the Western Flyer to be renamed General Aviation News & Flyer, later changed to General Aviation News.

In addition to the twice-monthly print copies of GANews that are mailed to thousands of individuals, businesses and airports around the country, Flyer Media, Inc., parent company of GANews, also produces Living With Your Plane, a national directory of residential airparks and other related information.

While corporate headquarters are in Lakewood, WA., staff writers, photographers, editors and sales staff live in every corner of the country.
