Jennifer Hudson went back to her roots on Saturday as she paid a visit to her hometown of Chicago.

The 32-year-old singer slipped on a chic black jumpsuit to perform at the 11th Anuual Black History Month Celebration at the DuSable Museum.

Showing her signature style, the American Idol alum also sported a plush red pout and dramatic eye make-up.

And Jennifer was seen belting out a storm as she took the stage with her pixie 'do.

Though the star opted to wear a most modest ensemble, her lean figure was still apparent.

'The key about losing weight: You have to do it for you,' Hudson told PEOPLE. 'It's not about even starting the journey, it's about you.

'You have to want to do it. And you can't let what everyone has to say overshadow what you want for you.'

But for the Dreamgirls star, that means 'tracking my points - sticking with the plan with Weight Watchers.'

'That's what I try to do and take it with me everywhere I go,' the Oscar winner added, who is currently also a spokesperson for Weight Watchers.

JHud is sure to make another glittering appearance on Monday, as she pays a tribute to legendary diva Arthetha Franklin.
