The Tinder for threesomes: New dating app matches couples with a third partner
|
A new dating app that matches three people together is being touted as the Tinder for threesomes.
According to its website, 3nder, pronounced 'threen-der', is geared towards 'all swingers, newbies, curious and experienced' who are 'discriminated by society the same way gay people were 15 years ago'.
The app, which bears the tagline: 'Threesomes made easy,' is currently being funded by AngelList and is still in the development stages.
Dating made easy: A new app called 3nder, which is pronounced 'threender', is being touted as the Tinder for threesomes and helps couples find a third partner or singles match up with two people
3nder, which was developed by London-based entrepreneur Dimo Trifonov, lets you sign up as a single person looking to match with a couple, or as a couple seeking a third person.
Like other dating websites, it lets you set up a personal profile, where you list details about yourself and what kind of relationship you are seeking.
According to the website, users can select a setting to keep their identity hidden from friends and family so they can 'browse freely' on the app's database of potential partners.
The goal, says the website, is to expand people's views on sexuality and relationships. 'We need to evolve our social acceptance,' reads a description.
According to the 3nder Twitter page, which currently has 67 followers, the app has had 111 invitation requests as of Friday.

Anonymity: Users can select a setting to keep their identity hidden from friends and family so they can 'browse freely' on the app's database of potential partners
Not everyone has taken to it so keenly, however. Styleite writer Hannah Ongley said of the app: 'If you're treading the sexually and emotionally complex waters of a threesome, you should probably have the balls to do it in real life.'
But the one aspect more contentious than the principle behind 3nder is how exactly it is pronounced.
One Twitter user wrote: '3nder - Tinder for threesomes. Bad idea. Bad name. #unpronounceable.' Another said: 'New app 3nder (Threeender? Thrender? Trinder?) aims to help you find a threesome. Jesus.'
And when one user tweeted at 3nder to ask how to say it correctly, the company gave a rather open-ended response.
'Threender is the correct way,' they wrote. 'But I guess people will decide that :)'.
