His brood is expanding on an almost daily basis.

And as Simon Cowell's 10-day-old son Eric got used to the life of a music mogul's son, he found himself getting a very friendly welcome from one of his puppies, Squiddly and Diddly, on Sunday.

As Eric lay asleep on a lounger inside Simon and partner Lauren Silverman's beach tent, one of the pooches got overly investigative, and approached the sleeping babe to give him a big lick on the face.

In a move that was anything but hygienic, the dog continued to sniff around Eric before a member of Simon and Lauren's team quickly shushed him away.

Eric looked entirely unconcerned by the incident, however, continuing to sleep peacefully as he enjoyed the warm weather in Bal Harbor Miami.

The licking incident occurred after it was claimed Simon has enlisted the services of dog expert Edward Alava to ensure his pet pooches weren't upset by Eric's arrival.

A source told Page Six: 'Edward advised Simon on how to familiarise the dogs to Eric, telling Simon to put one of Eric's blankets in the pup's basket so they could get used to the newborn's smell.'

Eric was also asked to take care of the Yorkshire terriers in the days following Eric's birth and he bought some special gifts to keep the dogs comfortable when they went walking outside in New York.

Meanwhile, on the Miami break, Eric's mother Lauren also appeared to be enjoyed the day, looking relaxed and content as she hugged her newborn protectively to her chest as she relaxed under the Florida sun.

The pretty brunette dressed cool and stylishly for the excursion, letting her wavy hair down that day.

Silverman sought shade with a pair of retro sunglasses, and wore a pair of sparkling studded earrings upon her lobes.

She kept her make-up to a relative minimum, and appeared to only be sporting a dusting of bronzer upon her cheeks, and a coat of light pink varnish on her nails.

Silverman kept covered up in a sheer, loose-fitting patterned top, and a golden designer watch upon her left wrist.

Eric was captured keeping his cool under a floppy white hat, and Silverman let her maternal instincts shine through as she held her infant close to her chest.

Silverman was recently spotted on the Miami beach with Cowell on Saturday, sans their newborn. The new parents appeared to be thoroughly enjoying their leisure time under the sun.

Sporting his favourite pair of blue and white Bermuda shorts, Cowell did the honours by navigating his two boisterous pups across the busy public beach while Lauren walked by his side.

Squiddly and Diddly, adopted last October as he and Lauren prepared for the birth of his first child, even caught the eye of two bikini-clad females – and the couple obligingly paused while their two dogs got some attention.

Lauren looked to be regaining her pre-pregnancy figure following Eric’s birth in New York last Friday, and she showed it off in a pale blue maxi-dress.

The socialite added to a breezy summer ensemble with a pair of sunglasses, while a large white handbag remained casually slung over her left shoulder for much of her beachfront stroll.

Lauren eventually made her way back to her sun lounger, where two assistants promptly erected an umbrella stand for some much needed shade as she took it easy.

Meanwhile it has been claimed that Cowell will raise his firstborn between the United States and the United Kingdom.

The new dad reportedly plans to divide his time between homes in Manhattan, where Lauren is based, and his own native London.

The media mogul quietly put one of his two properties in Los Angeles up for sale six months ago, with a source telling the Daily Star, 'He's downsizing. He doesn't need two LA pads.'

While he purchased the sprawling property in Beverly Hills' coveted Trousdale Estates for a reported $15.5 million back in December 2011, he actually never lived in the home.

Last year, he was said to be planning to move his then-pregnant girlfriend into the house once her divorce from husband Andrew Silverman was settled, however, she chose to remain away from prying eyes in the Hamptons instead.

The lovingly restored four-bedroom, six-bathroom house, which was designed by famed architect Hal Levitt in 1966 and features a screening room among other high-end inclusions, is approximately 7,265 square feet and sits on more than half an acre of land.

That's right it's a known medical fact that the baby's immune system strengthens by having dogs around. I checked with my own doctor before doing it.

lugging all the baby gear to the beach, an unnecessary plane ride prior...going through airport security at jfk and trying to read something on your ipad with a red faced crying newborn (who is probably going to give you 3 seconds before it's code red to be fed) = STRESS!!! Why not stay in your comfortable home, with help at hand and baby's pediatrician/midwife/lactation consultant a phone call away ..gives you peace of mind
