She's a screen starlet herself, thanks to her Mad Men fame.

But even Kiernan Shipka isn't immune to becoming starstruck, as she proved when she simply could not hold back her joy after accidentally running into fellow star Taylor Swift on Sunday during a shopping spree in West Hollywood.

The 14-year-old actress could not wipe the smile off her face as she shook the Grammy Award winning singer's hand inside an upmarket clothing boutique.

The young actress - who plays Don and Betty Draper's daughter Sally on the AMC favourite - was well dressed for the chance meeting, showing off her youthful individual style with black skinny jeans and a chic jacket.

Her blonde tresses looked to have been very recently straightened, and the talented star was surely glad this was the case when she came face to face with just about every teenage girl's idol.

Kiernan was spotted sporting a huge smile as she looked Taylor right in the eye and shook her hand, somewhat nervously.

It has been a fun-filled weekend for Kiernan.

She spent her Saturday evening mingling with the stars at the Costume Designers Guild Awards held in Los Angeles, looking chic and pretty in a quirky layered dress.

And things are only going to get more and more exciting for the teenager as she was recently named one of Vogue’s 10 rising stars of 2014 at the end of last year, alongside Ciara, Iggy Azalea and Lupita Nyong’o.

For Taylor it was another day, another new friend as she took New Zealand born songstress Lorde out shopping, which is where they happened to intersect with Kiernan.

The pair of music mavens chatted and giggled as they explored the swanky stores in the Melrose region of West Hollywood, making a few purchases here and there.

It wasn't the first time the pair hung out either, as they spent Saturday together at a beach in Malibu according to the I Knew You Were Trouble singer's social media accounts.

"Royals" is a lyrical masterpiece, anyone could write a mediocre song about appreciating what you have and not wanting to be rich. But Lorde took a topic like that and made it into a pure well written, and catchy song. I think Lorde has potential to break records and be a legend one day, if she is this talented at the age of 17.

I notice this too. I think Taylor calls anyone who she talks to for at least one time, a "friend". Some people use the term very lightly. I bet in two years her and Lorde are either not going to be as close anymore or they are not going to be friends at all.
