Getting caked in the face isn't pretty, but Joan Rivers always seems to rise above any embarrassing situation she finds herself in.

The 80-year-old  was spotted on Saturday in the Palm Springs area supporting the Lucy Foundation as her first public appearance since she was caked in the face by Miss Piggy at an Oscars pre-party in Los Angeles on Friday night.

But she seemed to be back to her old self as she hammed it up for the cameras spreading her arms out wide.

She wore a black pant suit and completed the outfit with a multi-layered coral beaded necklace.

Her furry friend also came along for the ride and at one point, Joan held the cute pooch.

The cake in the face incident all began Friday night when Joan sparked a heated debate between the pair after calling Missy Piggy and old ham.

Miss Piggy retorted: 'Oh, a pork joke. How original Joan. Here let me try - plastic surgery, plastic surgery.'

When the pig went to leave, the comedienne tried to stop her and Miss Piggy accuses her of touching her breast.

As things got physical, Miss Piggy pushed Joan into a giant three tiered cake covering her in icing, prompting the 80-year-old to flee the hotel.

As security cleared a path for her, Joan zoomed off in a car, but she returned shortly after all cleaned up to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Just hours earlier, Joan was in great spirits as she walked the red carpet.

The star looked stunning in loose-fitting black dress pants, a matching singlet and cropped black lace top with billowing floor-length train.

On Monday night, she was one of a slew of celebrities who appeared to welcome Fallon on his premiere night as host of the long-running late night talk show.

This was the first time the veteran comedienne had appeared on the program since Johnny Carson banned her for taking a job to host a rival late-night show on FOX in 1986.

Prior to their fight, Johnny had even named Joan as the permanent guest host on The Tonight Show.

When Jay Leno took over behind the desk in 1992 he upheld the ban and never had Joan on as a guest.

Regarding the end of her banishment, Rivers joked to Variety, 'It’s about time! I’ve been sitting in a taxi outside NBC with the meter running since 1987.'
