Just 12 months ago, Paula Patton had arrived to the Vanity Fair Oscars party looking happy and content on the arm of her husband Robin Thicke.

But this year was a different story, as Paula rocked up to the star-studded bash alone, and cutting a significantly slimmer figure following the news of her recent split from Blurred Lines singer Robin.

The 38-year-old actress appears to have been on the heartbreak diet after her marriage breakdown, and showed off her trim and toned figure in a plunging, pale blue fishtail gown as she arrived for the party.

Compared to pictures of the 2013 party, Paula's face looks thinner, her waist is smaller and her cleavage is significantly depleted.

Following Paula and Robin's split announcement, reports emerged that the pair's romance had been on the rocks for months - perhaps explaining the Mission: Impossible actress' drastically altered image.

Despite her marriage split, Paula is not letting her personal troubles get her down, and has been hitting up various parties this week.

She made her red carpet debut as a single woman at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, looking stunning in a little yellow dress.

An insider told MailOnline recently of the split that Paula is throwing herself into her work, revealing: ‘Paula is busy working on a movie. All this is so new to her, she doesn’t know what to do yet. She is focusing on work. She is still friends with Robin, they are not on bad terms.’

TMZ also allege that Paula is open to reconciliation as she is yet to hire a divorce lawyer.

Robin has been on a mission to get her back, sending her a constant stream of floral arrangements that were seen being delivered to Paula's Hollywood Hills house on Thursday, and it was clear that no expense was spared on the gesture.

The flower deliveries coincided with his emotional performance on Thursday evening in Fairfax, Virginia where he dedicated a song to Paula.

And Robin reiterated his desire to get back together with her in an emotional tribute to the actress in his first concert since their split, although TMZ say sources close to the couple say Paula was 'unimpressed.'

'For y'all that don't know me and my wife separated, but I'm trying to get my girl back. She's a good woman,' the 36-year-old told the audience.

The singer, who cancelled three concerts following the split, then sang Lost Without U after admitting he had written the song for his wife.

Robin and Paula had been together for 20 years after meeting as teenagers, and married in 2005. They have son Julian together, who will turn four next month.

I've gotta say Paula's never looked better. Previously most of her fashion choices always seemed to miss the mark. Not lately. This dress and the yellow dress from a few days ago look stunning on her. She seems to be soaring without all the dead weight she was carrying around! Good for her!!
