At 54 he would be forgiven for letting himself go.

But Simon Cowell is clearly putting in plenty of hard work at the gym if the pumped chest he showcased in Miami on Tuesday is any indication.

The muscular music mogul wore a look of smug satisfaction as he flaunted his figure during a topless stroll with Lauren Silverman and their baby son Eric.

And why not, for he showed off a chest He-Man would be proud of as he enjoyed the warm Florida weather.

He had clearly dressed for the weather, as the macho man was only wearing a pair of swimming shorts, his sunglasses and a beaming smile.

Lauren, who was married to the music mogul's close friend when she fell pregnant, also went for a relaxed look in a baggy T-shirt, shorts and flip flops.

Baby Eric, who was born on Valentine's Day, had passed out in his buggy as he was pushed along by his mother.

Lauren soon decided to stop to give their adorable boy a feed, which gave the pop svengali free reign to go cruising on the beach.

And he proved his bulging muscles are not just for show, for when his pooches Squiddly and Diddly started pulling at the leash he manfully scooped them up and held them in his arms.

But there was plenty of more fun to come for the couple, as they later ditched Eric at home and went for a romantic candlelit meal and a spot of shopping.

They then leapt on a pair of matching scooters and went for a joyride on their mean machines.

Simon' propensity for baring his body backfired spectacularly last week when he got a nasty case of sunburn.

He was red-faced and pink all over as he treated his partner to a posh meal in Miami.

The acid-tongued judge looked glum as he gingerly adjusted the white shirt that was no doubt irritating his scarlet torso after they emerged from their chauffeur driven vehicle.

Simon has become quite the family man of late and prepared for the birth of his child by adopting his two dogs last Ocober.
