He may be on top of the world right now thanks to his Oscar win but even Matthew McConaughey can't escape an embarrassing high school photo.
The 44-year-old Texas native won the Best Actor award on Sunday for his work in Dallas Buyers Club and received congratulations from Leah Pickett, the niece of his high school prom date, who wasted no time in sharing a throwback photo of the couple on Twitter.
'My aunt's high school prom date just won an Oscar. Congrats, Matthew McConaughey!,' Leah tweeted along with a 1980s photo of Matthew and her aunt at the prom.

The photo showed a young McConaughey flashing a toothy grin in a black tuxedo with a royal blue bow tie.
He was holding hands with his blonde prom date who wore a matching royal blue dress with a frilly top and matching pumps.
The couple posed next to white balloons with a crescent moon and star behind them.
Fast forward: Matthew flashed the same winning smile he had in high school on Sunday with wife Camila Alves at his side on the Oscars red carpet
Leah later tweeted that the photo was taken in Longview, Texas where Matthew attended Longview High School.
The Oscar winner was voted most handsome in the Longview Lobo Yearbook.
Matthew displayed those good looks on Sunday when he posed again in a tuxedo with his gorgeous wife Camila Alves on the Oscars red carpet.

This time around the star wore a white tuxedo coat with black trousers, black vest and black bow tie.
Mother-of-three Camila meanwhile was pretty in pink in a flowing long-sleeved gown.
Matthew made his film debut in 1993 as stoner David Wooderson in the coming of age comedy Dazed And Confused about Texas high school students.
The film included Matthew's improvised catchprase 'All right, all right, all right' that he made famous in the film and repeated after winning both the Oscar and Golden Globe awards for Best Actor.
