Dakota Fanning and her boyfriend Jamie Strachan looked in their own little world while out on the streets of New York on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old actress and the 32-year-old British model were perfectly in step and seemingly engrossed in conversation.

The Man On Fire star braved the cold in an outfit that swamped her petite figure - clad in a black pea coat teamed with loose cuffed jeans, and a pair of shiny black shoes.

The War Of The Worlds star recently left her teen years behind on February 23.

Her relationship with Jamie seems to be serious as Dakota has previously admitted that she's not one for casual dating.

'I have a weird vision of relationships because my parents have known each other since second grade, and they got married right out of college,' the petite blonde told Glamour magazine last March.

'I've always thought that's what it's supposed to be like, and if it's not, then I don't want to waste my time on it.'

She added: 'Even when I was 14, I was like, "I'm not gonna marry this person. What's the point of doing it?" It's not me being naive. I just know what it's supposed to be like. And I think until I feel that, I cannot be bothered.'

Jamie, who has posed for Gucci, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Michael Kors once had a long-term relationship with Victoria's Secret angel Behati Prinsloo, according E! Online. Prinsloo is now engaged to Adam Levine.

Even with a busy Hollywood career and a doting boyfriend, Dakota still manages to find time to devote to her undergraduate studies at New York University, where she is enrolled in the Gallatin School of Individualised Study, which gives students the opportunity to design their own curriculum.

She can next be seen in Effie Gray, in which she stars as Victorian art critic John Ruskin’s teen bride.
