Ariel Winter's relationship with her mother is infamously troubled.

But the 16-year-old Modern Family star was instead supported by her father at the premiere her new movie Mr Peabody & Sherman on Wednesday.

Glenn Workman joined Ariel and her sister Shanelle, who has been her legal guardian since 2012, at the glitzy event.

This was a rare public outing for daughter and father, and a welcome one for the smiling and obviously happy actress.

The petite Ariel was definitely enjoying having her family along for the ride as they stopped to pose for a group picture.

When she wasn't posing with the family unit, Ariel showed her sisterly affection by hugging Shanelle.

Ariel was becoming in a monochrome-patterned dress and bright pink heels while her sibling matched that look in a peach printed frock.

Just last week Ariel's mother, Chrystal Workman, was ordered to hand over about $4,000 in residual checks intended for the actress, it has been reported.

A Los Angeles judge made the ruling on Friday after Ariel's father Glenn filed court documents claiming Chrystal, his estranged wife, violated a court order by depositing the paychecks.

Although the money was deposited into a bank account for Ariel's production company Winter Sky, Glenn protested because he was given 'sole control of Ariel's finances' as part of a 2012 custody agreement.

The judge ordered Chrystal to turn over the money by March 14 and was told not to represent herself as being affiliated with Winter Sky, according to a report by RadarOnline.com.

The teen star has been under the legal guardianship of her 35-year-old sister Shanelle since 2012.

Last year, Glenn helped his daughter by backing her decision to live with Shanelle.

Ariel, who plays precocious Alex Dunphy on the ABC show Modern Family, voices the part of Penny Peterson in the animated flick.

Mr Peabody & Sherman tells the time-travelling adventures of an intellectual canine and his adopted son as they seek to fix a time rift they created.

Others who voice parts in the movie were on hand to celebrate the premiere at the Regency Village Theatre in LA's Westwood area including 10-year-old child star Max Charles, Ty Burrell and Allison Janney.

Allison stood out in a vivid fuchsia frock and metallic heels, looking slender and fit while the film's Ty Burrell wore an animated blue checkered suit, blue shirt and green tie.

Max, meanwhile, made a group of fans happy by signing his moniker to film posters and other memorabilia.

Lake Bell was becoming in a black jumpsuit that featured a beige panel at one shoulder, while Leslie Mann turned up in a white-over-black dress and neutral heels.
