She unveiled her newly dyed purple hair via Twitter on Wednesday.

And Ireland Baldwin stepped out for the first time since making the change, showing off the lavender hue in the sun.

The 18-year-old was dressed in workout clothes as she left a Ralphs grocery store in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The model, who usually sports platinum blonde hair, wore her tresses loose and straight over her shoulders.

She wore black leggings and a bright orange sweatshirt, a colour which clashed a bit with her new 'do.

But Ireland - who is the daughter of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin - seems aware of this, tweeting Thursday morning, 'Purple hair and workout clothes really don't go together.'

The aspiring star opened up about the new hue to EOnline.

'I just really wanted to go lavender and it's going to fade out,' she told the website. 'I wanted change! I love my platinum hair and that's who I am, but this is fun. Why not? It's temporary and fun.'

Ireland revealed her boldly coloured new barnet in a series of self-portrait photographs on Twitter.

It was certainly a big change from the luxurious long blonde locks that have become the young model's trademark.

Ireland seemed delighted with her new look, which she showcased for her 58,000 loyal supporters.

In the caption ot one of the shots, the clearly impressed teenager wrote: 'I could get used to this.'

And it seems her fans were impressed too, for she got numerous compliments, with one person going so far as to send in a picture of their own purple hair.

Ireland was looking in typically fine form in black biker jacket and T-shirt.

The look was a far cry from the glamorous purple gown she wore to the Vanity Fair post Oscars party, which she attended after presneting on the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight.

However she was looking better put together than on Tuesday, when she went make-up free for a lunch date with boyfriend Slater Trout.

The bespectacled 18-year-old looked like an average teenager she was seen being fed by her doting boyfriend as they enjoyed a romantic lunch together.

She wore the same leather jacket, a pair of chunky black ankle bootsm some glasses and tied her hair off her face in a loose top knot.

The pretty blonde had previously revealed she was overwhelmed when E gave her the opportunity to present at the Academy Awards, saying: 'I'm not used to being on camera so it's interesting. I'm into it, I love it.'

She is boring, with no talent or accomplishments, but she is desperate to be famous. So she does attention grabbing stunts like this to try and stay relevant. Quite sad really. I still don't get why she was at the Oscars or why the DM keeps writing so many articles about her?

She's a strange one can never decide if she's pretty or not she's not a patch on her mother but it's unfair to compare her to Kim who is such a gorgeous woman

Her facial features aren't feminine enough to pull that off.

That new hair color definitely draws more attention to her big ass head.
