The future's bright (orange): Jonathan Rhys Meyers wears VERY bold trousers on low-key shopping spree

He is considered one of the most handsome men on television.

But Jonathan Rhys Myers looked tired and withdrawn when he was spotted shopping near his north London home on Tuesday.

The 36 year-old actor and model, who currently stars in US series Dracula, didn't help his appearance by wearing a pair of bright orange trousers and a woolen hat for the excursion.

Matching the bizarre fashion choice with a tweed jacket and leather walking boots, the Irish star was a million miles from the dapper version of himself he presented at Goldie Hawn's recent fundraiser at London club Annabelle's on Tuesday.

There, he was seen in a handsome black suit with matching shoes and a crisp, white shirt.

But the actor looked much more casual when he was out in casual force on Wednesday.

Jonathan has been known for his battle with alcohol abuse, having checked into rehab three times between 2005 and 2009 - and even reported to be banned for life from flying on United Airlines due to 'belligerent' and 'disruptive' behaviour involving alcohol.

According to the Hollywood Reporter,  when the Irish actor took on the titular role in their new Dracula series it was specified that he must finish filming the ten episode run before receiving his full salary.

The 36-year-old was NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt's first choice for the role in the primetime series, according to the report, but there were concerns based on 'his history of alcohol-related incidents during the production of Showtime hit The Tudors.'

Sources told the respected publication that NBC withheld a 'substantial part' of Meyer's salary, which is believed to be $100,000 an episode.

They write that the actor received 'per diem payments and other small dispensations, but the lump sum of his salary was contingent on him completing the season.'

According to the Mirror, Jonathan has signed up with Dracula 'for years,' suggesting at least one more series is on the cards. He has also been linked to a new Star Wars film next year, which will see him reunited with director JJ Abrams.

He's beautiful inside and out and should be able to run errands in any clothes he wants without photographed (or at least not judged for it). Looking forward to see him play Joe Strummer and heard he is doing a film with Jessica Chastain this summer.
