He was last seen on Oscar Sunday looking dapper in a Neil Barrett tuxedo.

And three days later, Ewan McGregor got down and dirty on the California set of Last Days in the Desert in Borrego Springs.

The Scottish star - who turns 43 this month - donned a black turban, matching scarf, and a tattered Bisht robe to shoot the Rodrigo Garcia-helmed adventure-drama.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two-time Golden Globe nominee plays the dual role of holy man and demon who confronts his own fate after an encounter with a family in the desert.

Last Days in the Desert - due out later this year - also features actors Tye Sheridan, Ciaran Hinds, and Ayelet Zurer.

Ewan's dusty costume was a far cry from his polished appearance at the Acadamy Awards where he presented the Oscar for best foreign language film alongside Viola Davis.

I can't bear this man. His awful singing voice in Moulin Rouge and his appearance on Graham Norton where he took on the persona of a veteran luvvie of the acting world and dominated the group by telling 'funny' stories about himself. Ughhhhh
