Perhaps it was a nod to the glamorous gown she wore at the Oscars.

For Ireland Baldwin unveiled her boldly coloured new barnet in a series of self-portrait photographs on Twitter on Wednesday.

It was certainly a big change from the luxurious long blonde locks that have become the young model's trademark.

Ireland, 18, seemed delighted with her new look, which she showcased for her 58,000 loyal supporters.

In the caption ot one of the shots, the clearly impressed teenager wrote: 'I could get used to this.'

And it seems her fans were impressed too, for she got numerous compliments, with one person going so far as to send in a picture of their own purple hair.

Ireland was looking in typically fine form in black biker jacket and T-shirt.

The look was a far cry from the glamorous purple gown she wore to the Vanity Fair post Oscars party, which she attended after presneting on the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight.

However she was looking better put together than on Tuesday, when she went make-up free for a lunch date with boyfriend Slater Trout.

The bespectacled 18-year-old looked like an average teenager she was seen being fed by her doting boyfriend as they enjoyed a romantic lunch together.

She wore the same leather jacket, a pair of chunky black ankle bootsm some glasses and tied her hair off her face in a loose top knot.

The pretty blonde had previously revealed she was overwhelmed when E gave her the opportunity to present at the Academy Awards, saying: 'I'm not used to being on camera so it's interesting. I'm into it, I love it.'

Now I believe that the Kardashians got an invite to the VF Oscar Party if EVEN she did. Gag.

no idea if she'll be any good at it but glad she's trying to do something other than modelling that she will always fail at. I think she believes she is as gorgeous as her mother which she sadly is nowhere close to

What exactly does she do ? Is she just famous cause her parents are ? The kids of famous parents that feel its their job to take over Hollywood instead of go to school.
