No need to spell it out: Kathryn Hahn wows in elegant strapless dress as she joins co-star Jason Bateman at LA premiere of Bad Words

She may be known as one of the funniest women in film, due to her starring role in a range of hit comedies.
But on Wednesday evening it was no laughing matter when Kathryn Hahn attended the premiere of her latest film Bad Words in LA.
Joined on the red carpet by her co-star and director Jason Bateman, the 40-year-old actress looked gorgeous in her elegant strapless dress.

The black frock featured a peplum style waist detail, while the hem was trimmed in grey feathers- creating a fun feel.
Adding simple touches Kathryn – who plays reporter Jenny Widgeon in the film - wore black stiletto heels and carried a small embellished clutch.
Her brown hair was loosely tied off her face in a casual style – leaving wisps falling around her face which was beautifully made-up with a dash of red lipstick.

Jason meanwhile, who was marking his directorial debut, looked dashing in sharp black suit with a white shirt.
He was joined by his wife Amanda Anka, who looked extremely proud of her husband’s latests efforts as they posed on the red carpet together.
Allison Janney, who takes on the role of Dr. Bernice Deagan, was also in attendance, bringing a much needed injection of colour as she wore a hot pink skater style dress.

Bad Words tells the story of Guy Trilby (Bateman), a 40-year-old high school dropout gets his revenge by finding a loophole and attempting to win a spelling bee as an adult.
Along the way, he befriends a female reporter (Hahn) and a young Indian contestant who he exposes to the wilder side of life.
The film, which premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, is black comedy written by Andrew Dodge.

A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty.
It originated in the US, however various other countries now do them - the concept has also featured on the small and big screen on numerous occasions over the years.
Bad Words is due for release in the United States on March 14, 2014.
