Meet the Australian farm girl taking Paris Fashion Week by storm: Model Stephanie Joy Field swaps sheep shearing for the catwalk

A sheep station is a long way from the Paris catwalk, but Stephanie Joy Field has swapped life on the farm for the high fashion world and has taken it by storm.

The 18-year-old farm girl from rural New South Wales made her European runway debut this week - just a month after beginning her modelling career.

Hailing from the town of Jugigong, her family is one of the regions biggest wool producers - and supplies some of the world's top luxury brands with fine textile fibre for their clothes.

Now Field is making her mark on the Paris catwalks, and may well have worn creations containing fleece she herself helped to shear from sheep.

The farm girl has just walked the runways for top fashion brands Céline and Valentino, as well as taking part in a show for Sacai.

She told Sydney's Daily Telegraph 'I'm so excited, a little bit nervous. There are a lot of emotions going through my mind at the moment.'

Field was scouted by modelling agency Chic in her teens, but decided to finish her HSC before pursuing modelling.

She believes the hard work ethic she learnt on her family's farm, will help her cope with life working in the fashion world: 'I think some of the life experience I've had living on the farm will help me with my modelling.

'You have to be organized in the country, like what food you need if you're having people over -
otherwise it's a 30 minute drive into town.'

Kathy Ward, from Field's Australian based agency Chic Management, said she thinks the former farm girl  has the ability to make it as a world class model: 'As
soon as she walked in the door we knew she had something very special about her.

Kathy Ward from Field's Australian based agency Chic Management, said she thinks the up and coming model has the ability to make it on the international circuit: 'As soon as she walked in the door we knew she had something very special about her.

'An important part of securing shows is the girl's personality and I think her laid back and warm persona will work in her favour.'

Field had her first catwalk experience at David Jones A/W 2014 collection show in Sydney.

She impressed the fashion pack with her natural beauty and willowy frame, and peaked the interest of international model agency Next.

With offices across the world, they advised her to immediately head to Paris to try her luck.

Ward said: 'In terms of modelling, you could not get a better first season — especially for a girl who has only been modelling a few weeks now.

'It was a bit of a risk to send her straight to Paris, especially for a girl who had zero experience, but we felt with feedback we were getting that if she got one show that would be amazing but to get three of the best shows — that exceeded our expectations and hers.'

Field is following in the footsteps of a long list of model success stories who come from small regional Australian towns.

Miranda Kerr, Nicole Trunfio and male model-turned-actor Travis Fimmel, have all gone on to find international fame.

However Field says it is the career of Australian Top Model winner Montana Cox she would most like to emulate: 'She seems really down-to-earth and she's so successful.'

Love her unique look, very interesting. Hopefully she can stay grounded unlike other country girl cum supermodels like Miranda Kerr and Nicole Trunflo.

There isn't anything that special about this girl that I can see. I have to question just what these modeling agencies look for because it doesn't seem like it's beauty the way it once was. Just think of Cara if you want proof.

She sure has the surly zombie model face down. By the way, you folks at Daily Mail might want to take a better look at pic #2 - the one with the silvery dress. That is full-on nipple showing.
