‘I would love to work with [Lorde]. She doesn’t need me but I would love to work with her,’ he said.

‘When you hear Lorde’s music you hear her lyrics, you hear her melody and you hear her music but you also feel what she’s saying.’

He said he would also love to work with Prince and Katy Perry (who he says his five-year-old son Rocket ‘loves’).

The singer-songwriter wore his favourite oversized hat, a white t-shirt, jeans and sneakers.

Pharrell thanked his fans for his recent success, including a number one album on iTunes, an Oscars nomination and a string of Grammy wins.

‘I continue to make songs and I think I’m getting a little better, I’m trying my best,’ he said.

‘It’s the people, ultimately at the end of the day, that have lifted me as high as it is right now.

‘I’ve never seen these heights before.’

Pharrell added that he and his wife Helen Lasichanh preferred to keep a low profile rather than party with other celebrities.

‘We appreciate our privacy but at the end of the day we’re normal people, when I’m not working we're homebodies and Helen’s my best friend.

‘We spend more time jumping on the bed than we do out partying, clinking glasses.

‘That’s fun but I think there’s just so much more to the work we’re doing right now.’

The Australian Girls Choir made a name for themselves with the iconic I Still Call Australia Home Qantas advertising campaign.

The choir has sung for some of the world’s most influential people including the late Nelson Mandela, US President Barack Obama, the Queen, Pope Benedict XVI, Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres.

Pharrell is just the latest high profile performer the choir has sung with. Its list of past stage mates includes Hugh Jackman, INXS and Ronan Keating.

Pharrell, who lent his signature hat to Sunrise host Samantha Armytage for a quick photo this morning, has rarely been seen in public without a version of the Mountain Hat by British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood since he first wore it on the Grammys red carpet earlier this year.

His Grammys hat was just auctioned off to fast-food chain Arby’s for $US44,100 ($A49,091). All proceeds will go to Pharrell’s charity for at-risk teens, One Hand to Another.

Pharrell earlier this month busted out a grey version of the $180 sky-high headgear while visiting the BBC Radio 1 studios in London and also donned the grey version at the 86th Academy Awards nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills.

Since his camel-coloured mountain hat made an appearance at the Grammys, Pharrell has sported a pink, a blue and a grey version of the $180 fedora at different occasions.

The hat’s most recent appearance at Sunday night’s Oscar performance resulted in ‘the shimmy seen around the world’ as Pharrell danced with Meryl Streep.
