It was the wardrobe malfunction of the night when Giuliana Rancic's Paolo Sebastian gown broke during her live coverage of the Oscars in Hollywood on Sunday.

But the E! News host has revealed to MailOnline the reason behind the broken zipper on the princess-style gown and still says the Australian designer, Paul Vasileff, is 'amazing'.

Rancic revealed how the battery pack stuffed down her Oscar's dress to broadcast the live interviews was the real reason for the split.

She explained at the Crystal Light Liquid post-Oscars brunch: 'My battery went out during a live interview. I couldn’t hear anyone – the nightmare we all worry about -  so they go to break and they tell the guy you have two minutes to come in and fix this – unzip the dress change all the batteries and zip her up again.

'So he came out quickly and he was moving so fast I was like ''Just be careful when you zip me up because I have so much back here and it might break the zipper.

'And he was like ''Oh no I have to do this quickly, it's fine, it's fine'', So I am yelling for my stylist who wasn’t around at the time.

'So he pulled it up and I thought it was fine and then all of a sudden the second the red light went on and we went back from break, I felt air and a breeze on the left side of my body and I look down and I realised he had split the zipper open, and he felt horrible.

'But what is interesting is that it ended up being one of the most talked about moments of our coverage because people love real live moments and I think that is what E! does so well.

'Instead of hiding it the first thing I said was, ‘Hi my zipper broke’, and just kind of announced it the audience.

'What was so funny is that Ryan Seacrest happened to be coming onto our segment and heard what had happened so he bought an old piece of tape that he had found on the floor and kidding around tried to tape it up.

'Right when we went to the next break my stylist Monica came in and sowed it really quickly, but at the end of the night I had to be cut out of the dress.'

After the wardrobe malfunction, the 23-year-old designer of the now infamous dress, Paul Vasileff told Sydney's Daily Telegraph: 'I cannot believe that happened.

'I hadn’t seen the dress for a month or so and its invisible zip so it’s a bit tricky, and they do tend to break.

'It’s an unfortunate thing to happen right then. She took it well but yeah, I will be calling and apologising.

The E! News golden girl raved about the designer before the embarrassing moment.

'I'm all about Australian designers right now,' she gushed as she talked through the Paolo Sebastian dress. 'I feel princess-y — a girl deserves to feel like a princess once in a while.'

His intricate gowns seem to be a popular pick with the E! News cast this awards season.

At the Golden Globes in January Catt Sadler wore Paolo Sebastian while Giuliana wore another Australian designer Alex Perry to the Grammys.

While speaking about the wardrobe malfunction, Rancic also told the MailOnline that she has put her health issues to the back of her head.

The presenter announced she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and underwent a lumpectomy and a double mastectomy.

But the star says she feels great and is on medication that has worked out well for her.

'I put it to the back of my head', she said, adding: 'With me, my husband (Bill) is a little bit more concerned and he is like, ''Honey you are running too hard, you have to slow down and make sure you are OK because health is the most important thing.

'So it's funny because you want to take care of yourself and take it easy but at the same time because you have been through a struggle, you want to live life you the fullest.

'To be honest in the near future I will try to cut back on work a little bit, see what I can cut back on, to spend more time with my family and to just be more relaxed and make sure my health is OK.'

She looks emaciated. She won't conceive being so thin. She doesn't care as she has her surrogate to carry a pregnancy for her. All it takes, Julliana, is a little more fat to produce a little more estrogen!

Let me guess, the dress was cut open after rubbing against her blade-like rib bone?

She is grossly underweight and very hard to look at because of it. Some one should intervene, do her husband, friends or work-mates try to tell her how scary skinny and unhealthy she looks or are they afraid to?

They are probably deluding themselves and enabling her. She was complaining about not being able to have a child and all I could think of is that if she gained some weight that would certainly help regardless if that is her only problem or not.

Giuliana, no need to explain why it happened. All we know is it definitely didn't happen because you're fat. Poor thing is so frail. Does anyone know if her cancer is in remission?

First world problems.

This is the last thing she needed. You know she's secretly berating herself for being fat and is going to starve herself even more as punishment.
