In the film, Veronica Mars returns to Neptune years after she has walked away from her past as a teenage private eye, and becomes absorbed in helping old flame Logan Echolls when he is accused of murder.

Meanwhile, she struggles with personal issues, not wanting to be the person she once was – someone whose investigations ended up costing her friendships and hurting her personally.

The Kickstarter funded film stars many of the cast members from the TV series.

Bell said in an interview with CNN last year: 'At the time (of the Kickstarter campaign), I thought, "Of course this is happening. This is what's supposed to happen."

'The farther I get from the date of that occurrence, I start to realize how absolutely farfetched this idea was to throw out into the universe. I start to realize the size of our balls - what we attempted and thankfully succeeded at having happen…’
