She was thrilled to show off her new purple locks on Wednesday, posting a series of snaps that captured her straight bright strands.

But Ireland Baldwin proved the versatility of her bold tresses on Friday, sweeping them into a chic yet messy updo for a trip around Los Angeles.

Perhaps feeling a bit rebellious, the 18-year-old - who is the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger - donned an edgy ensemble consisting of mostly black pieces.

The model wore almost all black in the form of a blouse, grey-hooded, casual bomber,  leggings, and a pair of motorcycle boots.

Brightening up her look - aside from her hair - the fair-skinned beauty wrapped a plaid red shirt around her waist, which happened to match her bordeaux sunglasses.

Though her ensemble was a bit Gothic, Ireland added some class with a quilted Chanel bag.

It was recently reported by Us Weekly that the star split with her boyfriend Slater Trout, which could be the reason for her dramatic transformation.

An insider told the magazine: 'Her life has gotten crazy in the past year or so.

'She is really trying to keep her momentum going as a model and she can't do that and go to school and have a boyfriend.

'She's young, she always had an idea that it wouldn't last forever.'

The news came after Ireland - who typically sports a platinum blonde 'do - unveiled her newly dyed purple hair.

The aspiring star also opened up about the new hue to EOnline, saying: 'I just really wanted to go lavender and it's going to fade out,' she told the website.

'I wanted change! I love my platinum hair and that's who I am, but this is fun. Why not? It's temporary and fun.'

Ireland - who followed in the footsteps of Nicole Richie and Kelly Osbourne with her purple hair - confirmed her decisions on Friday by tweeting, 'What's done is done. I need to focus.'

'Sometimes, you just have to date yourself. It's all about self improvement. Unless you can date Beyoncé, then date Beyoncé.'
