Naomi Watts has spoken out about her widely panned movie Diana, admitting that there were problems with the script.

In a pre-recorded interview with Lisa Wilkinson on Today, the Australian actress said her decision to star in the film about the late princess Diana was ‘risky’.

‘I’m an actor and I’m always looking for great roles. It’s not often you find a great female-driven drama,’ she said.

‘The script had some issues and we tried to figure them out. Some go in the right direction, some don’t.

‘Critically it was always going to be a risky thing.’

The Channel Nine morning show also played a clip of the famous early 90s ad in which Naomi turned down a dinner with Tom Cruise to eat a lamb roast.

After starring in the commercial it took a decade for Naomi's acting career to take off internationally.

Naomi moved to the US in the 90s and featured in a number of films, but it was her role in Mulholland Drive in 2001 that caught the attention of critics.

Naomi sat down with Today in the Barossa Valley, where the Jacob’s Creek ambassador was visiting to promote the wine label’s True Friendship campaign.

The 45-year-old actress also opened up about family life with partner Liev Schreiber, 46, and their sons Alexander, 6, and Samuel, 5.

‘Everyone in my house has an opinion about everything,’ she said.

‘And actually the boys’ opinions are often the most trusting ones because you feel like they have no agenda, they just call it like it is.

‘My littlest one has a very good eye. He’s often been known to say “mummy that dress is horrible!”’

The family enjoys the precious quality time they spend together on weekends.

‘Sunday is called snuggle Sunday. It’s just a name,’ she said.

‘No one is allowed to go downstairs. We just snuggle and stay in bed for a while.

‘Saturdays we’re more social but Sunday’s a quieter day.’

AAAAAH so it was the script's fault!!!!! Nothing to do with the topic that is more suited to a 'made for tv' film..... She made a very bad career move in doing this rubbish.....
