Things may be a little frosty between Therese Kerr and her supermodel daughter Miranda, 30, but it hasn't stopped her trying to build some bridges.

Using social media site Instagram to reach out - she posted a picture of herself on Monday, cuddling a baby who has the same name as the former Victoria's Secret star.

The caption read: 'this little girl is another Miranda isn’t she just gorgeous.'

The 48-year-old then used the site to talk about what family means to her, mentioning her famous daughter and grandson, three-year-old Flynn.

'What a blessing children are to our lives,' she said. 'Spending time with this little Miranda today takes me back to when my kids and little Flynny were as tiny.'

She continued on the post: 'I wonder what this little Miranda will be when she grows up. No doubt our blessing like our Randa, Matt and Flynny are to us.'

The Instagram comes a month after Miranda’s parents did a documentary with Australia's ABC, saying they hadn't seen their daughter of grandson for more than a year.

The program, Family Confidental, featured a public plea for her to come home with Therese, her husband John, as well as the models grand mother Ann, all revealing they felt there was a growing distance between the family.

Therese who has launched an organic skincare range in competition with her daughter, said on the documentary: 'Miranda's life is so different .now [and] she's surrounded by 'yes' people all the time. It's so important for me to be real, to be true, to be who she needs me to be.'

She continued: 'We have been best friends for most of our life. We used to talk just about every day.
'What I have to do is let go and allow her to be assertive and lead her own life. And I guess for any mum that's a little bit challenging sometimes to do that.'

The model's father John revealed it was Orlando Bloom who told him over the phone that the couple were getting a divorce after three years of marriage.

'I remember him saying "we're always going to be family" and that's how we'll treat Orlando, Miranda and Flynn. We're all family.'

Kerr and Bloom split late last year and there are rumours that Kerr, the newly signed face of international brand H&M, is now dating Australian billionaire James Packer.

Kerr's grandmother Ann also spoke out, saying she hoped Miranda and Flynn would call Australia home again soon.

She said: 'I miss the baby and I think he's missing out on family, that closeness that we have always had.

Ann, who has accompanied her granddaughter to interviews and photo shoots added: “It's very nice where they are but nothing like Australia, nothing, and
I think hopefully Flynn might end up here. We just keep our fingers crossed.”

Kerr is still yet to comment about her parents appearance on television.

Am sensing money issues. Daughter becomes famous, family uses her money without her knowledge. Mystery solved.

Wow, she just can't leave well enough alone. Keep it up and your daughter will never talk to you again...

Bag o' spanners!! No wonder Miranda is staying away, she probably feels betrayed by them doing the TV interview, and to add insult to injury, they now air their "dirty laundry" on every media platform available. I'm thoroughly embarrassed.

I have an emotionally detached mother and think the idea of a mom trying to be there for her daughter & grand child is sweet. But after learning everything her mom did. I don't blame her. It's healthier to live away from people that cause strife.

There is something not right about this woman. One cannot but feel that she is competing with her daughter and out to grab media attention ......for herself. If she were decent, she would wait for any contact from her daughter with dignified silence.

Something pretty upsetting must have happened to cause Miranda to ostracise her parents/family like this. What her mother needs to do is find some dignity, stop trying to publicly guilt and embarrass her daughter into contacting them.

One thing American culture has gotten all wrong is this idea you have to leave one family behind to start your own. Wrong! Children need grandparents, auntie, uncles, friends. What a blessing for a child to have so many loving people in their life. And what a blessing the bond between mother and daughter. I love and am so grateful for my own mom. To each their own but I wouldn't have it any other way.

It amazes me that every single person, who decides to sort through 'their laundry' in the media spotlight, always forgets that they are not wearing any pants or underwear!
