They say that wearing sandals and socks together is the ultimate fashion faux pas, but that's just the look that fashion-forward singer Rita Ora went for when she caught a plane out of Los Angeles.

The 23-year-old singer had been busy filming her new music video in America, which is called I Will Never Let You Down and no doubt she wanted to wear something comfortable after a long shoot.

She combined the daring fashion choice with a DKNY T-shirt and matching shorts which looked like they could have been pyjamas.

The black and white two-piece was emblazoned with the company's logo and Rita is no stranger to the brand after she posed for their New York themed resort campaign for 2014.

Rita also wore a black and white leather jacket which had gold embellishments on the sleeves and back and topped off the look with the pair of black and white striped knee-high socks with red toes.

Gone were the usual heels on her feet and in place, she wore rubber Adidas Slide sandals which are typically worn by the pool.

The look is set to be a huge trend after Christopher Kane brought out crystal-embellished rubber soled pool slides at his Spring Summer 2012 show and Prada have been championing striped socks.

The trend-setter wore her long blonde locks down and in loose curls and she added a slick of pillarbox red lipstick, a shade which is fast becoming her trademark colour.

On Monday night, the singer tweeted her excitement about another brand collaboration which has seen her take over as the new face of Rimmel make-up.

She told her 3.52million followers: 'Yes finally! My @rimmellondonuk collection is finally available on the shelves in 3 days!!!'

An hour before that, she posted a message saying: 'Bots what are you up too? I miss you guys! And by the way the videos coming! It's close weeeeheeeeee.'

It seems as if the star has much to announce at the moment as it has just been revealed that Rita will make a guest appearance on Iggy Azalea's debut album, The New Classic.

The singer released an EP, Glory Days, in 2012 but The New Classic is her first full length album. Ora tweeted: 'Support my girl @iggyazalea by buying her album The New Classic which I am on!!'

(Adidas) Sandals with socks have been worn during the warm weather for several years now by teenagers here in NYC. It's nothing new. It isn't very stylish but it is comfortable.
