Naomi Campbell has revealed she's keen to have a baby - whether she has a man or not.

The 43-year-old supermodel - who split from long-term boyfriend Vladimir Doronin last year - admitted that she would love to have a family, but insisted that she doesn't need a partner to raise a child.

Speaking to Diane von Furstenberg during a SiriusXM Radio Town Hall show in New York on Tuesday, Naomi said: 'I’m at an age where I’ve decided I do want to have a baby. Yes or no — I’ve always spoken about children so many times in my interviews over the years.

'I do want to have a baby. And whether I’m with a man or not, I will have it on my own.'

Naomi also admitted that mentoring wannabe models on her hit show The Face was also partly responsible for reigniting her maternal instinct.

She said: 'I love mentoring. You’re with them day in and day out for 10 weeks, and suddenly when it’s finished, you get down.

'You miss them. I miss them. I get depressed when I’m not with my girls any more.'

Back in 2008, Naomi admitted that she had been infertile until she had a corrective operation that year to remove a cyst.

She said at the time: 'I was not able to have children up until March. Now it's in God's hands. I would love to have a family.'

Meanwhile, Naomi, who has long been a campaigner for ethnic diversity in the modelling industry, said that while she believes there has been 'progress', she worries the use of non-white models could just be a 'trend'.

She said: 'We are definitely making progress on the ad campaigns. We do not want it to be a trend, we want it to be consistent...

'I also don't want to see them put us in a line in the show, like we're an act together, and it's done... That's also not very creative.'

And the British beauty also insisted the fashion industry is not responsible for models suffering from eating disorders, arguing people need to be 'responsible' for their own actions.

She said: 'You cannot blame our industry for the body type of women. The food issue is a really sensitive subject for me, and it makes me nervous to really talk about it because I've never seen a designer in my whole 28 years say to someone, "Go on a diet, lose weight."

'You have to be responsible for your own actions. So if you decide you don't want to eat because you feel like you have to be like this, that's all up to you.'

She'd better get her temper under control, then. Babies can be a lot more difficult to deal with than employees...
