Lamar Odom returns to US from Spain to seek treatment for back injury just two weeks after disastrous debut... and his future in Euroleague is now in doubt

His debut with Spanish team Laboral Kuxta got off to a less than impressive star when he lasted just six minutes on the court and less than than two weeks later it appears as if Lamar Odom's stint with them is over.

The former Lakers star - who split from his wife Khloe Kardashian last year amid allegations he took drugs and cheated on her - suffered an injury to his back and has returned to the US for treatment. His return to the team - for which he has played just two games, and lasted a total of 23 minutes on the court - is in doubt as he had only signed a two-month contract.

A representative for the team, which is also  known as Baskonia, told Us Weekly: 'He will visit his doctors in New York who have treated him throughout his career in the States, to check with the medical tests and receive a second opinion about his back injury.'

It's all over: Lamar Odom's comeback in Spain appears to have ended prematurely as he has returned to New York to receive treatment for a back injury and it is unclear if he will go back to Spain

Manager Sergio Scariolo added, 'If Lamar told me he would return, I'm not going to have the feeling he won't.'

However, sources close to the player are not so sure about his plans to go back.

One insider told Us Weekly: 'It will depend on his physical condition. He packed everything, so it's not looking good.'

Another source added: 'He's played very few games and didn't make much impact in those he did play.'

Indeed, friends expect him to return to Los Angeles after his stop in New York.

Failure: Lamar only played two games for Laboral Kuxta and a total of 23 minutes before injuring his back and travelling to New York for treatment

'He wants to stay in L.A. and make sure [his back] gets better, because you don't mess around with your back, a source said.

'He is going to get ready for the next playoffs now. Staying in Spain a bit longer would have made his back worse, so he was advised to come home. He wants to get healthy and really take care of his back with a doctor he trusts.'

And things appear to be looking up with Khloe, with insiders revealed both she and her mother Kris Jenner have reached out to him.

The source said: 'They are talking. It is amicable. Khloe and Kris both said they are here for him if he needs anything.'

This is yet another good sign for Lamar, after it was recently revealed Khloe is having second thoughts about their split.

Is there hope? Despite a whirlwind romance, Khloe and Lamar were believed to have the perfect marriage before it all fell apart last year and it has now been claimed she is considering taking him back

After months of uncertainty she filed for divorce on December 13 but Lamar has continued to wear his wedding ring and refer to Khloe as his wife.

And it appears to be working, with a source close to Khloe recently telling In Touch: 'She's wondering if she should give him another chance.

'He said he's too busy to sign the divorce papers and calls her all the time and tells her he'd do anything to win her back.'

Lamar recently told Us Weekly that he isn't sure if the divorce will go ahead.

He said: I love my wife, she'll always be my wife no matter what.

'We don't know that the divorce will go through. I hope not. But even if we divorced, she would always be my wife.'

Falling apart: Lamar's two-month contract with Spanish team Laboral Kutxa was supposed to get his failing career back on track but that plan seems to be falling apart

Lammy is such a baby. SInce he had to leave the Lakers he's done nothing but whine. Now he hopes Khloe will take care of him. And I think she's weak and will take him back. These people involved are in their thirties, time to grow up.

Khloe should have ended charade after the 1yr where it fell apart. She led this man and the fans on pretending all is well for appearances sake. She lied to him&fans; that she couldn't have kids all for the show. Lamar should see what she turned out like. She has become so thirsty for attention that she has resolved herself to do anything for it

Who cares? So now Khloe will begin making her appearances with selfies, pucker and pouts, exposed cleavage, sentimental sayings, blah, blah, as she has been quiet for 2 days, lol.
