What went so wrong? Little People, Big World stars Amy and Matt Roloff look loved up on beach holiday just six months ago

Not since Bruce Jenner shuffled off to his Malibu beach house has the world of reality TV been rocked by a marriage split as it has by that of Amy and Matt Roloff.
This is understandable; The Little People, Big World stars have been married - many people thought happily - for 26 years.
And now pictures have emerged that show the TLC stars in what appears to a blissful state of contentment on a beach holiday in Maui just over six months ago.

Arms around one another; the closeness is palpable in the sunkissed shots.
So what went wrong?
In a clip posted on TLC on Thursday, the stars of Little People, Big World talk about their trial separation.
Smiles all around: Amy and Matt seemed blissful

Both estranged spouses Matt and Amy discussed the reasons behind their split.
Matt said: 'Amy and I are separated. Last year, it was long and tough.
'Amy and I had a lot of tensions, so right around Thanksgiving, I thought I would move over to the [guest] house for a little bit and we'll try that.'

Flashback clips of the two fighting over clutter in their home were shown in the video and Matt said: 'I never felt quite at home in my own home. Something needed to change so we needed to try something different.'
'I mean you could call it a separation if you want, a trial separation, but its more of just giving each other some space,' Matt added.
As Matt is shown alone living in the guest house in the clip, Amy has a full-house as she prepares a holiday meal for her children in the main house shown on the reality programme.

She said: 'I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years was learn to live together.
'It's not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. It's been 26 years. We don't have a plan for how we're going to work this out, so it's not going to be easy.'
The estranged couple have been married since September 1987 and share four children together: twin sons Jeremy and Zach, 23, daughter Molly, 20, and son Jacob, 17.
The special hour-long episode documenting the split will air March 25 on TLC.

She was always hyper-critical, and he spent money like it was water over Niagra Falls, which scared her. She mentioned several times that money was tight and that they had little or no savings, plus they sent their kids to an expensive Christian school. There was ALWAYS some tension between them; it was there even as long ago as 2008 or 2009. I really hoped they would stick it out, though. I quit watching in 2010.
