Race to the altar: Ashlee Simpson wants to marry BEFORE big sister Jessica

They got engaged in January but Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross want to walk down the aisle as quickly as possible.

And if they have their way, the couple will beat Ashlee's sister Jessica and her fiance Eric Johnson, who popped the question in 2010, to the altar.

Hunger Games: Mockingjay actor Evan, 25, told E! News: 'Honestly, we could go and get married right now, wherever. We just want to be married. We're in love. This is the most incredible time I could ever think of in my life and I'm young, but the same time, I've lived a different life than most and I can't think of a happier moment.'

And Evan, whose parents are singing legend Diana Ross and the late shipping magnate, Arne Næss, Jr, revealed the his mother is heavily involved in planning their big day.

He said: 'My mom is helping plan my wedding right now. She's involved in all levels of my life.

'She's one of the most incredible mothers ever. My mom is 69 and she's going on tour again.

'She was on tour last year and even going tour, she's involved in every piece of our wedding [and] engagement party.'

Ross, who proposed after six months of dating, admitted he was ready to pop the question one month into their relationship but forced himself to wait.

And he told E! that he can't wait to have children with Ashlee, 29, who already has a son Bronx Mowgli, five, with her first husband Pete Wentz.

He said: 'It's up to Ashlee, but I want to have a lot of kids. I grew up with 10 siblings.'

Evan's comments about rushing down the aisle, come just as it was revealed Jessica's wedding plans have changed again.

They were planning an extravagant destination wedding but Jessica has moved her nuptials from Italy to Los Angeles in a bid to make it easier for her guests to attend.

It has emerged that after starting to plan the wedding, Jessica and fiancé Eric realised it would be 'too much' to ask all their guests to fly overseas.

They 'decided to keep it simple,' a source told Us Magazine.

The couple, parents to Maxwell, 22 months, and eight-month-old Ace, will now wed close to their LA home.

They had initially set their hearts on marrying on the idyllic Italian isle of Capri, where they vacationed back in July 2010.

The couple had even visited the island last year to scout destinations, visiting  Augustus Gardens and La Fontelina.

While she may have plenty of wedding planning to get stuck into, one thing Jessica does not need to worry about is fitting into her dress.

After committing to the WeightWatchers plan, Jessica has shed her baby weight - and more - and is in great shape.

'The new year will definitely bring on the wedding bells, which is exciting...I think it's about time,' Jessica told People magazine recently. 

'Knowing that I have the wedding coming up is an incentive to stay on Weight Watchers, count my points and stay in the gym. I mean, when you see my dress, you'll know.'

And although Jessica is determined to wed this year, after two children in quick succession put her plans on hold, it appears as if Ashlee will beat her down the aisle.

They've both been married before and failed so its not exactly a "once in a lifetime" thing is it? Just an excuse for a magazine shoot and a big dress in my opinion, especially as they have already have the children.

Having two babies in a row does not mean you have to cancel your wedding - unless you are so vain that you don't want your bump to show in the photos.
